My interior change with carbon fiber
Well Im almost finished all I have to do is the dash trim but they are replacing the dash tomorrow (due to top layer bubbling up) so Im going to wait till that is done. I have inclosed pics
I started without the red stripe but I thought it looked too black with no contrast.

Well done. I'm not much for the wood trim, so I think it's a nice upgrade. I do like the M Sport's crosshatch aluminum trim, but your carbon fiber look is far more unique.

Thanks
The red looks sorta orange to the eye and it almost matches the outside color to a degree. I guess you mind tricks you and gives a optical illusion to being orange.

finished
ok I went ahead and did the dash board trim. Im very happy with the change as the wood was not cutting it for me. My next project is the side mirrors.
Does anyone on here know how to take the caps off the mirrors? I guess I can ask them tomorrow when I take it in to redo the dash...

Nice!
That orange line is just the touch that will make it more beautiful and fit's the car's color. However, it is a thin sticker line, are you sure is gona stay in there? |

Aha. well, I still love it. Obviously stands out in a beautiful way, I like mods as soon as they are made with taste and yours is a good one.
My car is beige interior so the wood touch works just fine, since the car is not towards sporty look. But black interior with carbon fiber and that nice line looks great. Plus you have the sporty pedals and other things. Nice man, nice. PS I have studied your photography website, wonderful work man. Congrats! |

I like it. How hard is it to get the trim pieces off? Do they just pop off or is a lot of unscrewing involved? Also where did you get the carbon fiber trim? I ordered the aluminum but like this look as a way to change it up or help preserve the aluminum from getting scratched. The aluminum looks great but I have it in my X5 and it scratches very easily.

How did you remove the shifter piece?

To remove the trim is not hard a all. You just need to be careful and take your time. Everything snaps out it will not seem that way till you give a good pull (carefully) then you'll see how easy it is to remove. I didn't have to remove the gear shift nob as the boot just snaps out then so dose the trim. The I drive nob needs to snap out of the trim as well after you snap the trim itself out. You will see screws underneath the I drive box that needs to be unscrewed too. The dash board you will need to disconnect the hazard button and the vent after you pop it out. I have inclosed a pic of tools you'll need.
The carbon wrap material is called: Order Details: Code Item Qty Price Grand Total DINOC1170 Black Gloss 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber DINOC Flex Wrap CA-1170 [Select Size:4ft x 4ft (48in x 48in) (16 Sq/ft)] 1 $94.99 $94.99 Subtotal: $94.99 Tax: $0.00 Shipping Cost: $9.42 Grand Total: $104.41 http://www.metrorestyling.com (You can get it off amazon too same company) The red thin line was a 3M pen strip tape that I slowly applied to the bottom of the trim. You will also need a hair dryer to help heat the wrap on the edges and corners. I hope this helps. My baby is in the shop now having her boobs (dash ) done LOL Does anyone know how to take the side mirror caps off? Do the snap off?

Sorry I'm a bit confused. So to remove the shifter piece, all I have to do is take the shift boot part off, then just pull to get the piece off? There aren't any screws?!

Thanks. So just basically pull the trim off after pulling off the boot area, right?

I assume it got scratched from my watch rubbing against it when I open the door or when I push the door open. The door trim is all scratched and around the shifter. I noticed BMW made it a little darker on the new cars so maybe it wont be as noticeable.

I did my side mirrors
Ok I got my baby back from getting a new dash board replaced they put in a full new dash board.... I ask them to pop my side mirror caps as I wasn't sure how to. Its simple now all they do just pop off. I went ahead an wrapped them with the fiber wrap. took pics but it was dark will update with better pics tomorrow. next is the tail lights (smoke) to make them less red so it blends better with all the black thats going on on the car... Then spacers 20 in back and 15 in front.
