X1 3.5i belt and pulleys

Hey Guys! After hauling a full uhaul trailer from Nashville to Orlando, FL, my X1 started squeaking the belts (or tensioners). I bought belt dressing and only fixes it for a while, so I think that it's time for a good ole belt and tensioners change.

Before I go into that, has anyone been able to fix the squeaking without changing everything?

If not,

Does anyone know where can I get a belt tensioner kit for my n55?

no bought whole pulley belt kit from fcp euro, lifetime warranty wrapped it out a few times ,pulley bearing singing and now belt chirp when hot also 75 k maintainance item anyway.

oreilly gates belt was 1/2" longer because?

got new kit on order, shipped , tweaked a pulley bearing and need fresh belt, warranty exchange, have only a few k miles and it is acting up again, when hot squeaks

pretty easy job pull radiator fan and it takes longer to jack it up pull bottom cover off unbolt oil cooler, fan lifts out a bolt at the right top a and some snap tabs

AC Bearing and pulley Was howling @80 K also look at new thread ,

157382 JA reman clutch hub kit off ebay 7 rib belt hub $63.00 next round

So the chirp is back when hot... I'll double check to see if it's the belt or the tensioner but it sucks that I'm gonna have to do it again... good thing is that FCP Euro has warranty on their parts...

I just picked up an X1 xdrive35i and am going to be doing a diy of that same kit in a few days.

Just a quick note... I would bet, like mine, the oil filter housing gasket and oil cooler gasket are leaking onto the belt, so might want to look into doing them as well.

I'm doing the belt, tensioner, idlers, and both gaskets at the same time in my video, so if you are up to the task I should be done it by the weekend.

i did all that also too, exactly,

and oil from oil filter housing seal ruined belt, carwashed exxon valdez front of motor so ftp pulley and belt kit easy job,
that was first repair

oil filter housing o ring service, manifold has to come off for that 1 bolt under first runner.n55

then looked at grunged out intake runners in head vavles were all shrouded in carbon and chambers nasty, from oil vapor so i walnut blasted while apart and installed new intake manifold orings gasket seals also ftp 14 bucks Rein brand

vanos sensor o rings were leaking also from heat too, new vanos came with o rings

cam timing sensor had a leak also new oring dealer 85 cents

and it came back to ac clutch bearing rough @75k ,
hub bearing noisy out of spec ever so slightly. making a squeak when hot.

Hub bearing kit Also came with and replaced new clutch hub rubber bumpers and new hub bearing could have been removed and replaced , grind off 6 small stakes retaining bearing. bumpers had small dents in them

but the kit was easier, reused old compressor hub and just put new rubbers on it from kit

so far no more squeals
front of engine dry finally no leaks

2 months after installing the new belt it's squeaking again... it seems like I have a small oil leak so I think that's contributing to the squeak... thankfully I have warranty with FCP Euro so it'll be free but it's still annoying to change

If Ac pulley bearing has any miles on it replace it to, it will be dry and rough slightly out of alignment too

buy orings for all sensors on the front they r dried out too, cheap no more oil leaks on the front now!

oil pan gasket next and rear main seal some day turbo hoses o rings also.

I ended up buying a valve cover as my car has 75k... and that's as much as my budget will allow me for this year... perhaps in the next oil change I'll take care of those orings

Where did you find the AC clutch?

After everything I've done, the squeak keeps coming... so I am going to replace the oil filter gaskets and the AC Clutch, but my research has shown nothing... looks like it's a one-part piece (pulley and compressor)

Based on what I've seen, these are the only two things that are left to fix on my car... It is driving me crazy!!!

I finally took it to the shop and the AC compressor appears to be shut... so new vanos seals, new oil cooler gaskets, new spark plugs, new serpentine, new ac compressor for $1200 including parts and labor... not the cheapest but you gotta do what you gotta do... getting the x back tomorrow... will report back.
