Fog light/high beam issue after new battery

Hello everyone..took a break from working on my e46 and decided to change the battery in my X1 (116k miles and original battery). The battery is the same type and I registered it and checked the voltages with Carly and everything seems normal there.

But now when I hit my high beams or flash my fog lights activate...and when I hit the fog light button my high beams turn on.

I checked my FRM module with Carly and I get an error about a dimmer not functioning but that's it..no other errors anywhere else on the car and everything works EXCEPT for this light issue.

Any thoughts?

after doing some research, looks like there's a recall on the FRM that controls the lights...I also noticed that my interior instrument lights that come on when the headlights are on are on the fritz too

ok so this saga continues: dealer is saying the need to flash the car back to factory spec (they are saying there's features set that are not factory) and I need a light control module. all this for 800 dollars before they start poking around with the FRM to see if needs to be replaced. I'm taking the car out of here and going to see if I can get FRM repaired from 3rd party and I'll buy a LCM myself and throw it in.....any ideas from anyone? can I use INPA to reflash FRM?

Also the dealer wanted to charge 400 to flash the car back to spec because they said since I did coding with Carly, it basically needed to be un-done so they can troubleshoot the FRM..they also wanted to charge about 400 to replace the light switch because they said it could have something to do with the FRM..there was nothing wrong with the light switch (replaced it myself and the same issues happening)...I took my potential 800 dollar expense with BMW and put it toward a new Lexus which I've owned in the past...should have never left. I've enjoyed BMWs and will keep my e46 but too much to do with...heck my 428i that I'm leasing doesn't even idle right...glad it's a lease so I can turn it in and be done with that too...rant over...see you guys!

I have stock X1 s28i with only M Sport.

As soon as I found out car barely stays charged by low driving, I went through stalk, and turned off fog lights.

Try that to see if it works better.
