Who Use's the BMW Sun Screens?
I was searching through Craigslist for some wheels and I came across a set of BMW window shades. There's also some on ebay, here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/291962838252...torefresh=true
This guy is asking a lot, and for $300 i don't think they are worth it, but I thought it'd ask the general pop here how they liked them. |

I have a similar kit. Its pretty pricey when considered on top of the tint but I like the privacy.
Mostly use it to keep anyone from peeking in if I street park (I'm in Chicago). Would be careful using it with tint if your town is strict on tint |

I just went with tint - $350 CAD installed for 3M ceramic based tint that also blocks out heat. And I have to say it is ridiculously good - during the summer it keeps the car nice and cool even sitting in the sun.

I bought the sun screen's kit for 80$ (used) and i love it. My tinted windows decrease the sun but the sun screens block it. Much appreciated from my daughter.

I am using this $10 kit from Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0104OFF7E/ The rear shade can be wedged into the gap between the rear hatch and glass, and the side shades have a "clingy" material and are a good size for the rear side windows. Works really well and uninstalls very quickly. I decided to try these before going with the OEM part, and am glad I did. Saved a lot of money Talking out the other side of my mouth, my favorite setup (which was ~$600 ) is the OEM powered rear sunscreen and roll up rear window side screens on my 3 series.. If only that option were available on the X1!! |

I did some searching, and it looks like http://www.carshades.co.uk/ makes shades to fit the e84 as well, but it's weird what they do to the back window-- they use two shades with a big bar doing down the middle. I guess if you don't mind the Mini Clubman look, when you look in the rear view mirror, it's ok. ;-)
I had shades in my previous car, and I kind of liked it. Lots of shade, and I could remove the one out of the rear window during the winter when I didn't need as much shade. Harder to see out of the rear in the dark with the shade or tint, and I can remember it being a problem on one of my cars, so that's why I'm leaning towards the shades. Even $250 is a bit stiff, but hey, no one said BMW was cheap. :-/ |

The screens look OK, but I had a couple of fitment problems, where they are not quite straight or something. They come shipped all folded up, and I'm thinking that the metal isn't bending back quite the way it should or something. One screen in particular, I had to work on to get it back into shape. Ended up folding it again, and unfolding, and it was much better. My VW screens seemed better-fitting, oddly enough, although the design was pretty similar. Well, that's it -- my big "mod". |

My car has like 10% tint, I wish I saw this kit. I hate on road trips I'm driving like I'm in the presidents motorcade. I'd like to be able to see AND look cool when needed.
