2014 X1 jerking / bucking when deceleration with cold engine

Hello everyone. Long time reader first time poster.

I am having an issue with my 2014 BMW x1 xdrive28i - 103xxx miles. Recently it has started to jerk/ buck when decelerating, such as coming to a stop sign. It happens when decelerating from higher speeds and also when at slower speeds / not over 10mph. It will jerk every-time I stop for about 20 min after turning on the car (but only when I am coming to a stop) and then goes away when the engine has warmed up. It almost feels like someone is bumping in to me from behind. If the engine is warm and i shut off to run errands, it will not jerk when i start driving again. I'm located in the midwest where it's currently cold. It happens more frequently in the winter but only jerks here and there in the warmer months.

I do not have any service lights on, there is no vibrations at any time, nothing else seems wrong except for the jerking. I cannot tell what part of the car is causing the issue. There does not seem to be any issues shifting gears up or down but occasionally I will see the rmp's jump when slowing down into lower speeds. There are no leaks on the undercarriage. The only leak under the hood is from the oil filter housing which is causing a small amount of oil to leak on the engine below. Otherwise the engine is clean.

I have brought it to a transmission specialist thinking it could be transmission related but they said they found nothing wrong in the tests. I brought it to an indy shop who said they cant find any issues either.

I always keep up on oil changes / maintenance and just changed all my fluids at 90xxx miles including the transfer case but not the rear or front diff (as they are sealed).

Someone suggested the giubo flex disc but I don't have other symptoms of a bad guibo including no vibrations. I also read about something going on the with brakes but i'm not sure.

I have read tons of posts but cannot find anyone with the same issue as me. Im just trying to feel it out before i break down and bring it to the dealership. It's not under any warranty.

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I have a 2015, n20 engine. Same thing is happening to mine as well.

I found resetting transmission adaptations is a temporary workaround (about a month or two). But i'm not sure it's a good idea to reset it that often, if at all. Last time I reset mine was a couple years ago and I've just been living with this symptom you describe.

No codes when scanning, all green. I've also had the transmission serviced (pan/ filter, oil) and I made sure to use ZF original parts and oil for it. That was at 100,000km. Now at 142,000km at the time of writing

I'm wondering if it's related to the vacuum pump, as mine is leaking oil, or maybe the torque converter? Not sure. I've been wondering about this issue for a while now

@mjc1994...

I am also curious as to what the transmission adaptations are that you speak of.

I liked you response cause it sounds like you are in the same spot as me, I have just been dealing with it as well. It sucks. The fact that I do not have any other things out of the normal happening as led me to be uncomfortably relaxed about it.

I am not having any other related symptoms to a bad torque converter: shuddering, contaminated fluid, gears change at high RPMs and strange sounds such as clicking or whirring. Are you having any of these issues?

I don't think I am having any vacuum pump related symptoms either: Abnormal-feeling brake pedal, Oil in the vacuum lines, Improperly functioning turbocharger wastegate, Various engine codes at idle. I might have some of these internal issues but I cannot tell without tearing into it. Have you noticed any of these issues as well?

Someone I talked to mentioned brakes over breaking when coming to a stop and pinching the caliper to quickly. I have not replaced and brake parts put all seems fine. Any brake part replacements that have been done in between when you started to notice the issue?

I have also been getting the "battery discharge" light occasionally but only when it sits for more than a week. I assume my battery will need to be replaced soon. It goes away after driving for a while and doesn't come back so I think I'm fine for a while. Any battery issues you have noticed?
