VRSF Downpipe exhaust leak?

Hey guys, I'm currently under my car installing my new VRSF downpipe, but due to my whereabouts my e84 has been under some harsh winters and the clamp from the downpipe to midpipe was rusted on so I had to grind it off. Whilst im installing my new downpipe, my midpipe appears to be somewhat short where it cant fully connect with my downpipe leaving a gap. Is this gap bad? And will buying a new clamp fix it or will i still have an exhaust leak? What should i do?

That will definitely result in an exhaust leak.
