N20 Charge Pipe

Sorry if this has been discussed, but I couldn't find a specific thread related to this, just some random posts.

How many people have upgraded the charge pipe on their 28i?

It looks like the SGEAR/FTP is the only option out there and comes with both the charge and boost pipe.

I've only heard of charge pipe issues, so other than that it is included are there good reasons to change the boost pipe as well.

Finally, did you do the install yourself or have a shop do it. If a self-install, how easy/hard was it to do? If a shop install, roughly how much did it cost.

I thought I'd seen enough posts on blown charge pipes that there would have been multiple responses already.

But then I guess they could have mostly been from people with the N55.

Upgrade your charge pipe. Dont ask, just do. It's so cheap and easy - if you ever increase boost, and even if you don't you need to. I have blown 2 on a 35i, and unless I'm mistaken boost is actually less on our cars.

I do live in a hot state, and hot meets plastic exactly how you expect.

Did you do the boost pipe as well, or just the charge pipe?

I mostly ask as the only E84/N20 option includes both.

Thanks, I actually found an option to buy just the charge pipe.

No I just have to decide if I want to do it my self or have someone install it (after I buy it of course).

From what I've read inlet pipe is just another name for charge pipe. In fact the Turner product name says inlet, but the description says charge

charge pipe goes from intercooler to driver side engine
inlet pipe goes to front of engine
boost pipe goes from engine front below inlet to intercooler

this is for n20 from what I gathered from many videos and diagrams.
Please correct if wrong.
