My dealer (Melbourne, FL) has no information about any letter or extended warranty on the thermostat on our 2014 X1. Can someone please share a copy with me or provide any reference or campaign number included in the letter?

Still haven't located any information to verify the extended warranty mentioned earlier.

Called local dealer and they had no info.

Called BMW USA and they had no info on any extended warranty.

Anyone?

Independent shop is quoting about $400 and dealer a little over $500.

There is also a BMW site where you can input your VIN and it will tell you what limited warranty extensions apply to your vehicle..... For some reason I can't find it at the moment, but I will look again.

https://mygarage.bmwusa.com/ Click on vehicle profile, then warranty.

My 35i shows that the main warranty is expired as expected. It shows that there is still a Federal emissions warranty in effect for 8 years or 80,000 miles and shows the end date in 2022.

Maybe the thermostat is only for certain years or a range of VIN’s?

Took my X1 out this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks and had the service engine soon light on.

Connected Carly and have an error code for the thermostat. So it looks like I'll be setting up an appointment to get this taken care of.

I believe the t-stat issue is exclusive to the 28i models.

Got the car in and the thermostat taken care of with no problem. Now I'm just really hoping that the timing chain lawsuit gets settled with an extended warranty for that.

I think about upgrading from time to time, but every time I get a loaner it reminds me how absolutely horrible the steering has gotten in BMWs. There is just no way I would get another one unless this gets addressed.

Sometimes I wish I was still in the period where I bought something based on family needs and wouldn't have cared about something like this!

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the thermostat seems to be for the 28i only, not the 35i.
