may I direct your attention to this 60-page (and still growing) epic:

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1614899

A few more pages and it will need to be registered with the Library of Congress...

short answer - replace timing chain & guides, sprockets, tensioner, oil pump drive module, to prevent sudden loss of timing (which can sometimes, though not always, translate to sudden loss of engine)

'14 x28i @119k km. Been good. No issues except for one of the rear PDC sensor. But seemed to have "fixed" itself... right after I bought a replacement part!

About 500km ago:
Changed the transmission oil with Liqui Moly Top Tec and ZF filter pan Runs
Changed xfer case (still a PITA as it was in the past!)
Engine oil change (easy peasy)
Bled brake fluid
Replaced air filter

Back in the game! Missed my X1 so much, but picked up a 2019 X3 because there is more room. Very happy with it, gets over 30 mpg on highway. Bought at 27k, up to 37k in 3 months!!

Nice! Our other car is a 2019 X3!! On a road trip right now, we're around 30 - 31 mpg. Not bad for close to 80 mph.

Miles! I have lots of lots of stuff serviced at this point. In a world where car values weren’t so insane I’d have upgraded to a b58 something for a daily driver, but it just doesn’t make sense for me right now.

You have 1 of less than 1000. E84 35s are pretty rare. Keep loving it. There really isn't anything like it ...any year..,any make.

I had no idea they were that rare, are you sure? I know another person who’s family member happens to have one as well.

Garage List
Still claim it as mine - Wife's E84 xDrive35i has about 98,000 miles now.

Still has downpipe, chargepipe, and JB4 prior to the "clip" and CEL lit mod (lol). I plan on buying it back from her when she gets something else since I know all the maintenance, and as sudermatt has stated they are rare.

I could argue that a modded F10 550 with the TU engine, also in my ownership, is rare but I think they are more rare for blowing up...

2014 35i M-Sport here with 43k miles, which I've had for about 4.5 years and got with 30k miles on it. I don't think the 35i's are all that rare though, but the m-sports sure are, at least with lower mileage. Took me almost a year to find a good one and had to fly 1k miles to go get it.

2012 x28 xdrive 150K KM full bolt on since 85K. Liquimoly molygen oil changes and oem filter every 7K KM.

Changed the following over the last 3 years

Transfer case - covered under warranty
Thermostat - covered under warranty
Radiator
Rear trunk switch
Driver side door actuator

Aside from that she’s been a blast to drive and I still daily it.

Wow, that thing looks great! How much is it lowered? What rim and tire sizes?

Wow, that's encouraging. Mine is about to hit 95k and I'm a bit worried about what will start to fail. Are you still on the original turbo?

Lowered about 1.2 inches all around on H&R sport springs / stock shocks. I have to replace the shocks soon as they are nearing end life.

HRE FF15 wheels 19x9.5 rear and 19x8.5 front staggered setup but suitable for xdrive 235/35 upfront and 275/30 Olin the back. Et 22 with a 12 mm spacer in the front et 23 with a 15MM spacer in the back.

Thanks for sharing, those are some meats! Any back views you can share to see how those tires look from the back? Seriously considering something like that when I'm done with my power upgrades
