What mods should I do to my new X1 MSport?
Hi guys,
I just bought me a new BMW X1 2.0 XDRIVE23D M SPORT, which will be my second car, my first car was a Polo 6n (1995) so quite an upgrade huh? :P And although it's still on the way (freight) I'm still overly excited on what mods I should do to the car. This is the list so far:
So far I'm looking at spending at around €600. Any other awesome mods I can do to this lovely beast. How it currently is After messing around with photoshop :P So what do you guys think? Thanks |

No yellow tint. Kidneys look great in black but enough of the M colors on the vertical tabs. I see WAY to much of that here in Miami.
My opinion, I don’t like the stripes. |

This. If it wasn't so expensive to get coilovers, I'd do that. But none of those other things matter. If you want just cosmetic changes, I kind of like some of the spoilers, but the M-Sport version already has a nice aero kit.
Personally, I'm thinking of getting some "whiter" headlight bulbs. Philips makes some nice ones. |

I'm planning to get the carbon fiber eyelid but haven't started looking for one.

Check out their chart -- there's almost no gain (with the n20) except for a bump at 3500 RPM? Mehhh.... Might be better in combo with other upgrades....

How are H7 Globes changed?

These two shots are with the connection plug attached and with just it removed but I have never struck anything like this before. Normally there was a clip that unhooked from the top and swung down to release the globe. Any suggestions? |

Not quite there yet, but this looks something close.

Perhaps the dealerships have a special tool? Further searching revealed this. The clip is not exactly the same but I might be brave enough now to try again. Copied from http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...23&postcount=4 Now having learnt how to do it, I thought I'll write a summary of how it is done. It applies to low beam halogen H7 bulb in a BMW 318 and 320, European model with Hella or Valeo H7 bracket. This bracket is different to what folks are used to. It has no clip and the bulb is pushed in place to fit. To take it out one is forced to tilt it upawards before it dislodges from the bracket. Here you go, Turn the light switch (inside the car) to "0" position so that there is no current in light circuit. Turn the forward wheel to the opposite side. Reach under the wheel arch to locate the rectangular flap. Use a coin to rotate and unlock the two lock mechanisms in the flap. Remove the flap. Use a powerful torch light and locate the round plastic window that is hiding the low beam H7 bulb. Turn the round plastic window to the left and remove it. Now you will see the backside of the H7 bulb with the brown rectangular connector attached to the two bulb pins. Do not take out the connector just yet. Hold the connector along with the back side of the bulb (single grip) and tilt the whole assembly upward (push it upward). The lamp will give way and come loose from the bracket and you can pull out the lamp. In some case side to side jiggling may be necessary to dislodge the bulb from its seating. Now you can remove the old bulb from the connector and fit a new H7 bulb in the connector. Hold the connector with the bulb and insert the bulb into the bracket, aligning the top portion first and then pressing forward the whole bulb in position. Look at the bulb from the head lamp side. There should be almost no gap between the bulb body and the reflector. Never touch the glas part of the bulb with hands and if you do wipe it clean with spirit. Use gloves and take due precaution as mentioned in BMW's user manual. Good luck ! Sorry guys, this has been dealt before. I did not find it in my early search try. There are Exhaust Systems up to expensive Quads that are made for X1's. Chips or as you mentioned Remapping if more power is required. Depends on your Country and Dealer Regulations. This Forum and the Other Forum are basically for 28i and 35i Petrols. I have got fantastic information from them over the Years. You can see my X1's Diesel Spec's. After a lot of searching and work I have based my O/Seas Purchases on a 2013 X1 Petrol 28i. People are hear to help even if the comments you got were a bit confusing. All you have to do is Answer and Ask Questions. Good luck with your great car. |
