What sort of tint do you have? I'm currently waiting for an Alpine White xdrive28i and am planning to get it tinted pretty quickly after it shows up. Thinking 35% in the back and 50% up front. I like the look of yours so I'm curious to know what it is.

It looks pretty much the same, except that I'm using the BMW Rack and a "Mont Blanc" Box. Ready for vacation :-) Nice setup BTW...

the brand is LLUMAR

and the name of the tint is the ''alu light''

they are the ''alu light'' from Llumar

i don't know if the translation is ok...

Light transmittance: 21%
Permeability UV: <1%
Reflectance total solar energy: 62%
Color: Black Dark....but they had more darker..this is the second darker tint from three dark tints
Coated aluminum for maximum thermal insulation
With anti-scratch coating
Protects 99% of UV radiation

they are very good and you can see everything from inside...

I just ordered the Thule Aeroblade Edge setup in black (prefer black over the silver). Think it will go better with the black rails on my X1. Will take pics once it is installed.

Looks good; my BMW bars just arrived this morning, and are in a box beside me. Will be installing this weekend.

I've been looking at this for a while. There actually seems to be a big price difference here.

BMW Base Support System P/N 82712149465 $220 from getbmwparts.com

Thule 7602 + 7603 + 4013 fit kit from $382 from rack outfitters & others

Am I missing something here? What have others found that helps justify the price difference?

my understanding is that the Thule Aeroblade has a lower profile that the OEM rack. Maybe I am mistaken but either way, I preferred the all black option of the the 7602/7603.

the shape of the thule racks and BMW racks is not the same...then i don't know if thule has factory in U.S. or is imported from Sweden.
I bought them (thule racks & fit kit) for 160 euro the same price that was BMW system, but the THULE (racks-roof boxes etc.) considered by most people at least in europe better than BMW .

To make this work, do I only need the roof racks and a Thule roof box? I was thinking about getting one that had more height so I could fit a baby stroller up there. Are there any pitfalls that I should know about in selecting a different roof box?

Could I get the cheaper BMW OEM roof racks and a Thule roof box, or are they incompatible?

Thanks

you need the fit kit, this is the base that holds bars and roof box and it fit in X1's rails..so there is..

1)thule fit kit for X1's rails
2)thule wing bars
3)thule roof box
or
1 & 2 BMW'S
and 3) you can put thule's roof box
so yes you can take BMW racks and thule roof box and there is more higher roof boxes but that maybe increases noise and consumption..

it has enough space for me,and I wanted for baby things roof box , but i'll bought the ''Go pack set'' (4 bags for the roof box) and i put all the other things back in the car
