Talking X1 35I Suspension pop on LF steering area

This began with a hard left into the parking lot something on the left front popped ,after back out of angled parking space.
something popped ,thought i had ran over a water bottle none to be found. after that incident then pulling to left, so must tear it down and inspect LF steering for damage, and for parts failure of some type. torsion arm bushing is torn and leaked out liquid rattles inside bushing. both torsion arms , movement from side to side very loose or very little tension within bushing @86k

Was advised to replace lower ball joints, at 86k did not seem worn, slightly, replaced with OE "Lemforder" ball joints

"U tubed" info and found "Crunchy Sann" ball joint saddle press worked well popped them out, and back in in minutes.

Upon dissassembly found upper chassis torsion arm bushings on both sides were very loose inside and torn, had shot inside maybe and they liquid leaked out, bimmerworld has a hd "Meyle " bushing or a complete arm version also.

Bought the bushing press "amazon" , pressed out and replaced both with powerflex urethane black bushings all new good torsion rod assemblies look good and tight now.

now has adjustable camber stainless steel offset inserts inside new powerflex bushings, and new powerflex purple front sway bar bushings also.

Now make sure torsion arm camber bushing r greased with PTFE grease inside assembles, and are indexed correctly and go on correct sides. 9 oclock position original camber setting 3 o clock position increases camber setting . there is a index Arrow cast in to steel arm for bushing index references. check wheel rim clearances turn wheels side to side to very no rubbing or interference, good to go.

tighten bolt 18MM wrench with long 1/2" breaker bar tight as s*** then go align car on rack. no bushing preload is nessessary as per powerflex instructions from comp rep.

Hub assemblies r tight both sides.

Alignment next in line .

new Front Michelins for realigment, next

does not have run flats just Michelin super sport summer tires

from previous owner.

lot of work
