If the starter is spinning and engine isn't starting, it's not the starter that is the problem. A quick google search gave me a bunch of results on starter location for that specific engine.

ok bit late for the reply my bad i found the starter under the engine but that was the least of the problem after YouTube and friends it turns out to be the timing chain ether snapped or jumped of the cog as its clearly missing that's all i can tell you as the car is still sat there because i only had it 3 months and on finance so im waiting for them to sort the situation out . not long left till i seek the ombudsman and court to cover what ive lost in not having a car that im still paying for so this might be the one and only bmw i will own

These engines have problems with the timing chain guides deteriorating and falling apart.

Used engines are very expensive if you do decide to repair this.

ive been told by the finance company that they will only accept a brand new engine replacement or its a new car as they wont except repairs to that cost just incase a second hand engine does the same or worst so im still stuck till its resolved
