BMW dont have the brains or heart to make a mid engine sports car. They are now gonna bend over to the gaudy Chinese market and focus on electrification for the rest of the brands life.

It's a domino effect

Disruption is already in play

BMW can either lead, follow, or get out of the way

It is interesting one report mentions it sounding different than other BMWs but it sounds exactly like the M3/M4 to me. This would indicate the P58 as mentioned earlier. Are my ears deceiving me or did anyone hear anything different?

P58? Is this a tuned/modified B58 engine?

The sloping nose & intercooler would preclude an obnoxiously HUGE, asymmetrical, immunocompromised grille.

Most likely a powertrain mule for consideration in the next-gen M5.
I'am with you. The X8M has repeatedly being announced with a hybrid drive. This is what CAR recently wrote:

The plug-in hybrid M5 will use the same powertrain as the upcoming X8 M, with a V8 petrol engine and e-motors totalling around 750bhp and 737lb ft of torque sent to all four wheels.

Didn't you say the M3/M4 will have a different version of what is available currently in the X3M and alpina versions? I'm just going comparing it to the M3 and M4s in that video which sound exactly the same from my laptop's speakers

Unless that’s the goal of moving the engine to the rear. The front end now can just be one gigantic grill covering from the ground to the windshield, unencumbered by the presence of an ENGINE.

Why was my previous post in this thread removed?

I am unfamiliar with TERS. Is it some sort of driveline mounted electric motor?

So this would work like the quad turbo system on M performance B57's except two the turbos are electric instead of exhaust driven?

There's no engine in the rear, that part has been debunked on page 1 I think.

Looks exactly like an 8 series to me....the proportions would make it difficult for the car pictured to be mid engined. It's likely CSL or testing some future hybrid assist tech
