Road trip water pump failure - need shop in Cincinnati, OH

--Edit- I'll be trying out The BMW Store...--edit-

I am on a road trip in Cinci and I'm pretty sure my water pump just died on my 2013 X1 (xDrive35). I'm expecting most shops/dealers are closed for Sunday and Monday, but I'd like to know a reputable place I can have the car towed and taken care of. Any recommendations?

I'm out of warranty and CPO has expired I'll have to leave the car at an after-hours dropoff and come back to get it.

Welcome to Cincy! If you wouldn't have had it taken to the dealer I would have said Elsen's Autohaus, it's a BMW only shop and they don't screw you over. The BMW Store is good too, can't speak for service but the parts department is always top notch! Good luck to you and hope they get you back on the road asap.

How many miles? Worried about the same thing on an upcoming road trip.

I'm around 58k. I drove the rental car down and picked up the X1 last Saturday. Thanks to MoeTE87 for suggesting The BMW Store in Cincinnati, I was very pleased with the service and communication. They confirmed it was the water pump and explained the code it was throwing. I asked about doing the thermostat at the same time, the SA double-checked to be sure that would overlap with the pump replacement (it did). BMWCCA discount brought it down to just under $1200 for the pump and thermostat.

Aside from the car issues, it was a great long weekend trip.

Like others, I am concerned about reliability issues on long road trips. The X1 seems to have more than its fair share of these. So my question is what happens when the water pump fails. Does the car go into limp mode or must you pull over and stop immediately. What code popped up on your dashboard screen. Was there any warning before the failure occurred?

I do recall getting a letter from BMW extending the warranty on the thermostat to 10 years/120,000 miles. Does anyone know if extended warranty repairs must be done by an authorized BMW dealership or can they be done by anyone and still be compensated.

For the people concerned about long trips and water pump reliability please don't be. There's lots of BMWs on the highways.

If you want to be proactive you can read the car with ISTA and usually there's codes related to the water pump if it's on its way.

Familiar. Oh, how familiar the situation. I had a similar case, got stuck on the road and where to go is unclear. And most importantly - you can not leave the car. Somehow one find a way to come back home. I was then seriously helped. By chance. I stumbled upon some guys, they brought me a car to the nearest repair station. I want to thank them, they have their own website, as I found out. Maybe someone will be helped as well as me back then. https://www.sgtautotransport.com/services Because I was then just saved on the road ...
