It's just a matter of whether or not you want it, and if so, good luck finding it!

There are many many people who got the 28i instead of 35i, which is why you are struggling so much to find a 35i on the used market

Personally, I was in the "35i or bust" camp because with a 28i, I would get an F31 wagon instead to get the more modern interior tech, adaptive suspension, etc.

What I really wish for is a 30d or 35d X1. That would have been AMAZING
Would also have loved a 6 Diesel for the X1 and would have got the 35i but not available here. BMW are experts at allocating Motors for different Models especially Diesel's.

The E84 has the room for a 6. How about a M50d dropped in, with 375Bhp, 381PS, 280Kw's, 740Nm's and 546lb-ft. Lots of other Area's would have to be upgraded as well, ha ha Crazy but probably not for some of you guys.

The 35i would be a great one to get hold of and Time is running but what would be wrong with a 28i with Performance Extras, Wheels, Drop etc. and it's 8 Speed for Economy.

Gosh, don't remind me of the 50d. I would LOVE an X5 50d as a tow rig

As much as I love the X135 idea, the more I spend time with it, the more I feel its stuck in a no man's land. If I push it hard the all season RFT and aging 6AT and 39xx lb weight start to show themselves, and when I'm trying to cruise comfortable, the firmer suspension than other small SUV and heavier steering always try to remind you the car is 'sporty'

To be fair, I don't see the car as a small SUV.... I think it's labeled more correctly in Europe as a raised wagon. It's basically a sedan with taller suspension and crossover-ish styling. That's also why I love it. It might be stuck in no man's land but I also feel it's hit the spot dead on. Would be great with some active suspension to soften the day to day driveability, but then it would be in a while other price range.

Keep in mind this is coming from a 28i owner, so I can only imagine how much sportier the 35i is.

Speaking of smaller wagons, I can't see how BMW USA is selling any F31 given how the X1 and X3 are priced. An F31 328 was $10k more than an E84 X135 with similar options!!!

Yeah that caught me completely by surprise too. I think the F31 is newer styling, interior, etc. Plus from what I understand the F31 is actually larger inside than the E84

And this is the reasoning behind my x1 35i purchase lol

Not going to lie, if they made an F31 in 335 (or 340) configuration, i would have bought that instead...maybe

The deciding factor would have been steering feel

Can't believe I'm saying it, but the higher ride height is really nice. If the seats in the new X1 are ok, I would consider it. And I am such a huge fan of the X5 40e plug in

The "model z" small suv tesla is super interesting as well. I am going to try to transfer my model 3 deposit for to that

Well, this thread is now moot. I ended up buying a 2014 x1 35i. I compromised on color, and instead of blue or valencia orange, I ended up with Gray. But it's okay, it's growing on me!

Thanks guys.

I'm already looking for winter wheels!

I like the 2AG package wheels, it'd use those in the summer and my stock ones in the winter.

Oh, and the JB4.... god, that's tempting.

I don't have either (I have the Dinan Sport on mine), but I think one of the main advantages of Dinan is the warranty coverage (it's essentially BMW endorsed).

Ya I actually found mine and it had the Dinan already installed, so I sold my jb4 out of my 335. because of the cost of the jb4 I would have kept that.

Thought the $300 Dinan chip didn't have the same warranty coverage as the more expensive setups.

Correct, it doesn't warranty the car - only the product itself. You have to get the full tune to get the matching warranty.

Correct, I'm referring to the full blown JB4 equivalent, not my budget setup.

Gotcha. I wonder what the Dinan power package does to the engine and drive train in the long term (past warranty mileage)
