Best Water Pump/thermostat DIY for xdrive35i
Anyone have a recommendation for their preferred Water Pump/thermostat DIY. I can more or less figure it out but the E90 DIY isn’t quite the same from what I’m seeing down there. I’d love to see something specific to the E84 just for clarity.

Thanks to you both. Noche that video is good. Thank you. I started down a similar road as what that guy did so I feel good about that. I got everything out yesterday; now just have to get it all back in.

I got it all buttoned you tonight; it was such tight working space and those quick connect hoses with the metal holders were a real pain. Made me appreciate my 996 all that much more. I think I’ll write up my own DIY because I think extra intel might not be a bad thing for X1 owners on this project.
It felt good to get back behind the wheel of my car- it’s so different from my 996- effortlessly quick, quiet, but still fun in its own right. |

Mine didn't fail, but after reading all the horror stories of them being prone to failure, I decided to preemptively put in a new pump and thermostat at 94k miles.

Mine was at just over 103,000; I bought the car with 100,000 and was going to do it after the winter. Didnt quite make it so cold garage it was.

I’ve heard you can get a pump that has a metal impeller, but I haven’t done any research.
