I have the same car, and put Centric Posi-quiet ceramic on rears.

Centric makes Power Stop also.

My pads and rotor were barely worn, so just pads.

It seems to not be wrong pads, but a wider rotor surface.

That inner 1-2 cm will just rust I guess, but no problem with the ridge it will make.

Yeah you are right. I did some extra driving today and it seems like it has formed an extra ridge/ring around the extra surface...

So just for grins I checked my s28i.

Yep, the stock rotor has that 5mm of inner rusting rotor that the pad doesn't cover.
