have you checked in with the dealer...may be a recall...and I think emissions warranty lasts past manufacture warranty....I could be wrong but worth checking

Well it is not really part of the emission system. I am one month out of warranty and I do not see a recall or warranty extended on the turbo at this point even though this is a high # failure. When in warranty most of the dealer say it is normal. When it is out of warranty the dealer says in needs a new turbo and manifold$$$$.

check your manual. Wastegate is part of turbo system which is emissions. Here in NJ we also have CA emission as do many many states which gives you I believe 7 years or something on certain parts such as even turbo. Its in the warranty for the x1.
