Track fun 2019

It’s a bit cold today (upper 30’s for the first session) but out at Pueblo Motorsports Park for my first track event of the year and having a blast as always!

What an odd post. Do you have any content to share? Photos or videos?

My X1 s28i don't improve hp that much at 40 deg f, and my Michelin PS4S or PSS on the RX8 have no grip until 50 deg f.

Any driving is fun though.

I've only tracked when 60 to 90 deg f during day. Not going on most summer days either, since it's too hard on tires, car, and ME!

Pics are always nice.

Not a lot of exciting pictures, but here are a few I took along with a compilation video of my better laps.

Guess there's a typo in the video I need to fix

Turn 10 (last one before the main straight) got pretty slick in the last session as we got some light rain and that area is the beginning of the drag strip where the rubbery areas can get a little nasty.

Yea, my Potenza RE71Rs never got up to temperature, but while not great, the grip was better than I had expected.

And like you said, any driving is fun!

Looks like you got about all the speed you could anyway, and even heard some good tire squeal.

One of my best track days started on barely wet summer ice of about 60 deg f.

Nearly everyone slid off except my RX8. I had pretty new Hankook Ventus V12 and always leave traction control on.

So bad conditions are good practice to keep you ready for the bad conditions you always encounter in Colorado.

Latest bit of fun. Had to skip the last session due to a minor tire issue...

Damn - is the tire rolling over or bad pressure? Really chewed the outside up. I mean, the whole tire is worn, but... what happened?

Looks so fun. Have a 2.8i xDrive M Sport I'd love to do this in.

Just the result of track driving with camber set for normal alignment. I should have flipped the tires so that the outsides were moved to the inside, but I still managed to get two seasons out of them.

All the dedicated track/race cars will adjust camber This makes it so they get the full contact surface in the corners.

Of course it also means you are riding on the inner half of the tire under normal driving circumstances, thus why I just keep the standard alignment

So awesome that our e84 performs well at the track too! Love it!

I continually shock people with the X1. I humbly have to say that I have become a pretty good driver, as I am able to run faster than cars I have no business being faster than (I'll add that I feel lowering the car with H&R springs really helped as well).

This last time out it was a guy in a Type R, who actually came over and asked me for suggestions on how to go through some of the corners faster.

He could easily pull away from me down the straights, but within just a corner or two I would be on his tail. Once I was in front of him I would get far enough ahead of him through the corners that he couldn't catch back up to me on the straights.

The only car in our group this time out that literally crushed me was a Viper ACR
