Amsoil Transmission fluid

I found one more transmission fluid where there viscosity levels are very close to lifeguard8 fluid

anyone has tried the AMSOIL OE Fuel-Efficient Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid?

https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...?code=OTLQT-EA

Lifeguard 8

Amsoil

Viscosity 5.8 mm2/s (100°C)

the next close one is Valvoline

Valvoline

I've never tried it but would be willing to, I've always heard their oils are really high quality. Valvoline is excellent too, imo.

I use the the Signature Series in my 35i transmission. Also shows the OE as compatable.

I used ZF Lifeguard 6 when I changed fluid on my (6 speed) transmission. I use Amsoil for my motor and diffs, though, so I'm really curious to hear an account of long-term amsoil trany fluid use on the ZFs.

I am leaning toward using Valvoline, based on my google searches, there seem to be many dodge ram owner using it. over 300k on the fluid, the label on the bottle specifically said is comparable with lifeguard8.

but most importantly is dirt cheap !! in comparison to ZF stuff
about $5 qt vs $22!! and can be found at local store. no need to order

i have used the Valvoline on my mazda i have 260k same tranny. changed fluid every 30k or so. just a simple drain and fill. perfect shift still. my plan was to do the same thing on the X1 to make it last!

i have only found one poster that have used the maxlife on the bmw x1

The label says its comparable w lifeguard 8? Isnt this max atf also comparable w lifeguard 6? Because some of the e90 cheapos use it on their 335i. Does that mean lifeguard 8 and 6 are same?

Hi, why are you looking for aftermarket gear oil?

Is it cost?

My $0.02 is be cautious. There are sometimes additives that are unique to oem fill

Its interesting how the spec sheet shows compatible w M 1375.4, which is lifeguard 6. It also shows suitable for lifeguard 8. One size fits all, no.
