Doesn't seem very quick, I was never a fan of the SUV type of car preferring the Crown Vic or Chargers. I suspect those numbers are a bit conservative though, and if you did a clean roof version the top end would be a bit higher.

I do miss my time in a Scout car.

The cars are fast enough for what they are. They allow a decently trained cop to catch most people who try to run. You don't want police cars to be too fast or they'll just be a liability and get crashed.

We will be getting these in our fleet. Seems better than previous models.

Radios make up for any lack for speed.

If that were true nobody would have outrun the police for several decades. The reality is if they lose sight of you quickly, the radio is only good for saying "we have a car that's nowhere to be found". Depending on the department (it can vary hugely depending on city, rural, chase policy, etc) somewhere around 30% of people who run get away.

Now with that said only stupid or desperate people run, because even if you're the best driver in the fastest car your engine could still fail, you could hit debris, or they could have a helicopter that coincidentally happens to be in the same area.

These have a better surveillance mode and we are thinking no more idle right system either. Right now we install aftermarket surveillance mode and idle right. This will save us money and make it easier and safer for the officers.

I haven’t really dug into what it is all about but just those two things are a good start.

"All Police Interceptors get things like heavy-duty wheels, suspension, and brakes built to withstand all of the extra stress from police-related driving. There's also extra cooling to counter the rigors of high-load engine situations."

So simply to say, it is Blues Brothers certified...

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
