Hello Umair

Thanks ill keep that in mind when the time comes to complete my retrofit. I think my preferred and easiest option is standard cruise control with original KOMBI.

Can i ask were you looking for the same part number i need (9123050) or was yours a different number, and do you have any recommendations of where i can look apart from ebay as i am drawing blanks atm.

Good luck with the retrofit and keep us updated!

Thanks Daniel

Hello there tbh I’m not sure, message a guy called Craig at br diagnostics, he may be able to help.

I have just had my cruise control fitted and coded with that standard option. Everything works perfectly and took about 20 mins to fit and 5 minutes to code. I managed to use a slip ring with rain sensors, whereas my car did not have this as an original option, and everything works fine!

I just wanted to thank Umair for help!!

Thanks Daniel

544 coding successfully completed. however, the cluster set speed is not displayed. however, the site below has a speed setting.
(kombi module - tempomat_setz_anz_dauer = wert02)

Sorry for the late reply Danny174 ,

And congratulations on getting your cruise control retrofitted!
I am glad I could help.

For the sake of completeness what i ended up getting done (for now) was :
Cruise Control with Braking function (SA544) + Standard Instrument Cluster (base KOMBI) without the cruise control indicator

It took longer than usual because I was trying to get SA540 instead of SA544 coded on the X1 E84. The complications came due to the following:
1. SA540 was not offered as an option for E84 (only SA544 was offered)
2. The programming tools allow you to code SA540 to the car
3. While some of the ECUs in the car accept the coding of SA540, the DME/DDE do not and throw cruise control failure faults (which took a while to get to the bottom of)

Lesson Learnt: SA540 cannot be (easily) coded on the E84 BMW X1

I am now awaiting the re-programming (virginizing) of my replacement High-KOMBI with cruising speed indicator on the dial and then the retrofit will be complete.

A special shoutout to Simon and Raj @KYCS(KeepYourCarSafe) for persisting with my odd requirements and sorting everything out. I look forward to getting the remaining items on my wishlist done by them.

Hi everyone! You have a great site, I found interesting stuff here!
I have a BMW X1 sDrive 16d E84 2014, it have automatic transmision - see options. For the last few days I tried to understand the process for retrofit my BMW with cruise control presented in posts #18 to #22, and tried following the same steps. I reach at the point of eight choices for "544 Cruise control with braking".
I am lost completely at this point:
"1. Preferred option: Standard Cruise Control (540) with upgraded KOMBI
2. Factory option: Cruise control with braking (544) with upgraded KOMBI
3. Worst case option: Standard Cruise Control"
The "544 Cruise..." is one of three choices ????
Here is my BMW options, I hope you can help me too with the code for "Switch unit steering column" that I need.
Thank You in advance!

Hello all.

I write in this post because I do not want to start a new one. I need your help. I have a BMW X1 E84 03/2015 xDrive 2.0 diesel 143 HP with a 6-speed manual transmission. I want to install cruise control. The problem is that I can't choose the right part numbers. I need a cruise control stalks. In the car I have a S521 rain sensor and S249 multifunctional steering wheel.

Can anyone help me check the correct part number?

And do I also need new speedometer? If so, I have a start-stop system and eco pro mode in my car and I do not have an iDrive. Is there anything else I need to know about this retrofit?

For those interested, I put the last 7 digits of vin VX45134

I have been looking for these numbers for a few months but I am a new BMW user and I don't know much about it.

Thank you very much for all the answers
