Plastidipped the stock 18's today
Got bored and dipped the wheels. I went way too light and next time I am going to apply AT LEAST 4 more coats because I failed hard which you can see up close. It was super easy to do though and if you live in the NE its a really cheap way to protect your rims. Also put my lamin-x foglight covers on!

Hope you got enough coating coz the last time I was only on 2nd coat when it started raining and it was a nightmare taking them off..
Looks good in the pic..

I have enough to peel it off BUT the inside spokes are 60% covered. Didn't realize it until after it was dry so that's going to suck.

I wish our X1 had that style wheel, I'd have them powder coated black.
Good luck with the plasti-dip. I tried it but it didn't work out so well.

So far Ive figured out start out with light coats (1st coat 50%) and keep going up from there.

That's what I did. Followed all the directions, prep'ed the surface, made sure it wasn't a humid day, everything. I couldn't get the Plastidip to work out. :-(

I used Anthracite Gray, a metallic look with no clear, so matte finish...
I bought 4 cans, 1 can for each wheel, but probably used half can or so on each wheel, several coats so it will be durable and peel off when I want to. They made it through the winter no problem! |

Best looking stock wheel IMHO. Looks really good in darker colors. Wish I could find someone to trade with.
