BMW X1 Facelift (LCI) Undergoes Testing
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW X1 Facelift (LCI) Undergoes Testing Time flies. Only 2 years after its introduction, BMW is apparently already preparing a facelift (AKA "LCI") for the popular X1 SAV. As these images show, BMW sticks to their usual facelift approach. The front bumpers will be reworked significantly for a more sporty and wider appearance, similar to the existing M Sport package. The rear bumpers will follow the same lead with a more 'diffusor style' appearance. Head and rear lights will get new graphics (updated rear lights not yet shown in these images). It's hard to tell for sure from these images but we wouldn't be surprised if the X1 LCI also got its side indicators moved to the rear view mirrors. The camo tape over the redesigned mirrors and the side indicators at the front quarter panels appear to be fake decals (because they're too 'flat' and placed on a different spot than before). Expect the X1 LCI to hit dealer showroom floors in late 2012 at the earliest, which is also the estimated arrival of the X1 in the US. |

IMO, photos of the X1 are not flattering. Seeing them in various trims and colors combinations in Germany and later in Italy, they're distinctive and appealing. It appears the LCI will improve the look.

Does no one think the new kidney grille are too tall and not wide enough? Looks like a pig's nostrils.

I saw one on Canada in person and the proportions are not right and the front end is not attractive.
It's fine if it never makes it to the USA. I just want the F31.

Just curious... but why do they need to "road test" LCI models??? Isn't it a bumper change and maybe replacement lighting? Or is this primarily a marketing gimmick (aka the "striptease")? Seems like a lot of effort for a new bumper...

Wow, a lot of negative nancys in here. Plasti dipping is not nearly as ghetto looking as some of you may think, just go to the audizine forums and search 'stormtrooper s4' in the b8 s4 section to see what I mean. As long as its done right the finish comes out very nice, and when it comes down to it people are gonna give you just as much of a sideways look when you say you vinyled your BMWs roof than if you plasti dipped it. That being said, vinyl will hold up longer than the dip, but will be more difficult to apply perfectly (/ more costly if you're paying to get it done). I say go for it OP, after all plasti dip is completely reversible so if you don't like it you can peel it off. Just be sure to follow the directions, as te dip can be a pain to remove if you don't put a thick enough bottom coat on.
