Just finished reviewing a large number of the posts. There are definitely some very nice rides out there!

Just picked up my X1--first BMW ever--last weekend, and loving it so far. Black/Black xDrive28i with a couple of creature comforts (heated seats/wheel for Canadian winters, premium package, bluetooth&USB), with some more creature comfort upgrades for the future (looking at Nav and upgrading to Xenon lights). Not sure what else since this will be a daily driver, and I'm past my modding days (from a '91 240sx).

Does anybody know how difficult it is to DIY the Xenon mod, if you purchase OEM parts off of eBay? New to the BMW world, I'm not sure if something as complex as a computer/ECU upgrade is req'd.

Haven't got on it much (still doing 1200 mile break in even if BMW dealership guys say its unnecessary). So, punching it on a straight, dry paved road at 40 kicked on TC. Differently more power and faster. It's not night & day, but it should put it on par with an S4. Also seems traction limited with TC on at low speeds. Won't do a TC off run for about a month (after break in)
Feels similar to the bump I got in my SRT8 with a Diablo tune (20AWHP bump).
So, yes, I think it's definitely think its worth it for piece of mind with it warrantied.

I think I have some exciting news for N20 X1 owners. BMS is adding full dash control for you guys on their chip.

Interestingly the N55 Stage2 harness is a better fit than the N20 Stage2 harness. Either harness works the same once installed but with the N55 harness the wire lengths match up better and the control box fits nicely in the DME box the X1 has.

You'll also need the special Stage2 X1 N20 firmware for it so if anybody is interested in that you can PM or Email me.

Also will have some demo videos up once I can get my hands on them.

Very exciting!

For existing Stage 1 owners like myself, will it be a cheaper upgrade or a whole new system?

Dumb question, but how do I access the battery on this model? I haven't tried looking it up under the frame bar under the floor board in the trunk, but I will.

Anyone kind enough to shed some light?

The new D mode from ALPINA with the 70 extra torque from the DINAN stage 2 works amazing, it is so smooth but if you push it goes well as the downshift is so fast with the ALPINA flash. The paddles are now as fun as driving with the DCT on the 9114s!

I also had some scary moments and little sleep the last 2 nights to make it working, 24 hours to make it work for the flash without paddles and another 24 hours to fix the paddles. I think the procedure is solid but the difficult part is to set-up a PC with the correct files and config. For me:
-SP-daten-E89_v49
-WinKFP 32 bit version 5.3.1
- Coapi Version 3.13.2
- Ediabas V7.3.1
- MacBook Air with VMware and window XP
See below the car was completely frozen for 24 hours... if you have only one car DONT DO IT YOURSELF because you need to stay calm. Still less than 1000 miles, it is time to enjoy it now. I will ping DINAN again about the exhaust and stage 3...The last picture is the successful coding of the paddles.
Is this process/procedure documented anywhere? Can someone assist remotely with this? Very interested...

Update on Dinan stage 2:

At 1700 miles now. Dyno done and 247HP, 306TQ at the wheels. Stage 2 Dinan and otherwise stock. Before you scoff, this is at the wheels AWD at 5900 feet/89*F outside temp. My 420HP/425TQ (manufacture claim) 2010 Jeep SRT8 I had was a "strong" example and put down 298HP/306TQ on same dyno in similar conditions (actually it was 70s temp then)
So, 928 pounds lighter with the same torque and a slightly better HP to WT ratio. It's also at 300TQ @ the wheels by 3300rpm. Not bad...

Explains the TC flickering... Lol

New to the board. Have about 750 miles on 35i M-Sport and cannot wait to give it the Dinan tune. Please keep posting results...and a photo of smoking all four tires would of course be appreciated.

I would also like to free up the exhaust, but exhaust systems for these things seem like unicorns. Hoping to see some developments in this thread. Thanks.

Welcome to the board!

I am a BMW newbie myself, although not new to modified cars/bikes.
I will update anything new with the Dinan.
I don't think it actually smokes the tires (maybe a quick chirp), but that is a good thing! More spin=less traction.
At sea level this traction thing would be a much bigger issue. But with "just" this level of power bump, and at altitude, it holds the power really well.
If you are at sea level with the same package your M version may need that extra 40mm of rubber on the back

If CIWS reads this, how well does your Dinan hold traction/burn rubber in the DFW area (that is near sea level, yes?)

p.s. I have only found the Dinan stage 2 kit for a "warranty backed" power adder. If anyone knows of BMW warranty matched items like exhaust, etc. please let us all know.
I haven't seen the unicorn either! lol

I get the traction flicker, even at times I don't think I'm getting on it too much, but then again I probably am. But that's part of the reason I got the 35i and tuned it I haven't been back to the 1/4 mile track since getting the Dinan tune. They were closed in the spring switching management and right now (summer) it's really too hot to bother going. Nighttime low only reaches 80. Hopefully by next month it will start to cool enough again and I can compare my stock times to the tune. Don't really stomp it too hard on the streets for obvious reasons.

It was a Dinan badged X6, and BMW never even brought up any grief about the mod situation in relation to the issues. Don't know what that bill would have cost if they decided not to cover it. But nothing I would want to be throwing dice over. Then again some folks like throwing dice.

The warranty is everything to me. I have had modded, fast daily drivers that would break on me, no fun. This is my daily driver and has to be 100% dependable. There is no back up car and my motorcycle doesn't do snow real well!

The more you mod, the less you can depend on it (as a general rule of thumb). Plus, no BMW will accelerate as fast as my bike anyway.
So my mod for the X1 is more for fun and "surprising" people, others will have faster versions for sure.

I test drove the X5 M last night. They are looking to unload a ton of X5's on the lots. Have to say it didnt feel faster than my tuned X1. Was thinking of making a switch but at this point I dont think its worth the extra cash.

Looking good wantm135i! Did you ever get the KW Coilovers installed? That's probably my next move.

Soooo...friday I have a VRSF downpipe going in as well as Performance Friction PF08 brake pads

Yes, I know those pads are designed for the track and not the street. That's why I bought them - the X1 hits Mid-Ohio October 19th!

Can't wait to hit the drag strip again soon too, hoping for a 12.5s pass. Should be doable with the colder temps plus the downpipe.
