My best friend just rode 70+ miles to work for Bike to Work Day

He left at 3am from here in Birmingham to get to Tuscaloosa where he works at UA. Here's an interview: http://www.myfoxal.com/clip/11499589/bike-to-work-day

He should move closer to work. 140 miles a day is a bear in a car, let alone on a bike...

He's leaving at about 11:30am. Not much time for actual work. lol

Well he's the director of photography for the University so he's got a good job, and he's married, but his wife is a doctor who works about the same distance away in the opposite direction! One of them will need to find somewhere else eventually. Kinda up in the air at the moment. In the meantime he's driving a TDI Jetta that gets 45mpg.

Probably lost about 20lbs today. My longest was ~20miles to go to local batting cage during middle school era.

When we were in HS, my friend's dad did it 3X per week before work.

I guess you could call him a CEO type, as he was the CEO of a corp.

On vacations, my friend and I would struggle portaging a canoe, the two of us, over rocks with huge frame backpacks. His dad would do one all by himself.

imho things were different back then, it's as if people did more. Today, you have the Zuckerburgs of the world saying it's ok to play video games.

Anyone bike 70 miles before work on their PS3 today?

I like it how there is a day in America that is designated to biking to work. In many European countries, cycling to work is as common as eating breakfast.

That's crazy.....I have a feeling he's not going to be very productive that day and he just may not be able to make it home.

When I was in middle school, 10+ miles is out of my comfort zone. Different city. Area I am not too familiar with. Anxiety level goes up.
IF I cycle now, it would be different.
