Accessing MAP Sensor on N55 X1

Thinking about doing the Stage One tune and can't seem to find the MAP sensor. BMS instructions aren't clear for this old brain.

It certainly isn't easy to see, so I assume removing the airbox is in order.

Do I remove the entire airbox or just the top? Is there anything else to look for?

Thank you!

You can access it by popping up one of the plastic engine covers. If you mean the TMAP sensor it is located in the chargepipe on the back right before the throttle body.

Location of MAP sensor is below.

Much better photo - very helpful- thank you! Definitely looking for the MAP. So, better to remove the airbox housing or micro pollen filter box for best access?

I just pry the cover up a bit if you only need to plug/unplug. No need to remove anything.

On the X1 you will need to remove the cabin air filter and cowl. Like PrematureApex said, after that just lift the cover up to access it. You don't need to remove the entire cover.

I removed the airbox and lifted up the cover underneath, which allowed me to get my hands on the sensor. It took a bit to work it - the TMAP was much easier - but it eventually came apart.

BMS Stage One was installed and everything went back together easily.

Like everyone else who has gone this route has said - the performance differences are quite noticeable.

Thanks again for your help.

I haven't tuned my X1 yet but when I added the JB4 to my 335i I didn't notice any performance gains. I'm glad to hear that you noticed a difference.
