If you guys want it, WRITE TO BMW! At the NY Auto Show, BMW said in their press conference that they are listening to customer demand, and if there is enough, they will bring the 6mt mated to N55 to the US. I emailed BMW Canada. Here's what I received.

i had to special order my 2011 128i from germany because there were ZERO manuals on the east coast. it seems people just want automatics. so i can understand what bmw is saying, but its a deal killer for me. if i wanted an automatic i would have bought a prius.

I totally hear you guys on the no manual=no sale thing and I really hope they reconsider. But, I drove them both today and was impressed with the 28 and near smitten with the 35. Also discovered when you option the 28 up the 35 spec you end up at a 1400 diff and that's not mentioning the bigger brakes. If I'm spending 40k, it ain't gonna be on no 4 banger, good as it is, just no. X135 is great car you should drive even if its a pedal shy of perfection- ok it still wouldn't be perfect.

for sure BMW is missing the boat on not offering a MT...It will be VERY interesting to see when the X3M is released if a MT is gonna be available..The X5M and X6M are all paddle shifters so it will be interesting....I am holding out till the X3M is released to see...Interesting enough the X3 35i diffuser is designed like the 1M....just ready to cut the other side out for that quad exhaust.....As much as i would rather have the X135i i HAVE to wait to see...Keeping my 135i as well but need a AWD car for a DD.

yea, but the Prius has a clear path...Gas mileage and comfort... and actually the one car from Toyota that has a purpose the rest are just annoying cars with drivers doing 5mph under the speed limit usually .Toyota drivers seem to piss me off more than any other drivers....Geritol anyone....or Preperation H...Maybe BMW should consider the CVT trans for the X1...that would go over well..LOL..COME ON BMW PUT A MANUAL TRANSMISSION OPTION IN THE XI.....

I'm pretty dyed in the wool manual buyer and as pissed as I've been getting with BMW on this, the 335d was/is awesome and the X135 is pretty awesome too despite their lack of a full complement of pedals. The prius comment is pretty over the top and vw sticks I've driven lately (not the Rs) are pretty lousy and I would take a good auto over them any day.
I'd say: BMW, the ultimate overweight oversized orange peel paint job machine. Inspired by the new 640 gran coupe I checked out in the showroom that had one of the worst finishes I've ever seen and as much as that thing costs its downright offensive.
