No, no you were not talking about stock vehicles. You specifically said HIS vehicle after he/we told you it wasn't stock. So either you can't read, or now you're back pedaling. How about you act like an adult, admit when you've made misstatements and move on? I quoted you, repeatedly, making blatantly incorrect statements. Grow up and admit when you're wrong. We're waiting... P.S. There are plenty of N55 X1 owners who bought over a 328. Again, it's a small market, but there are a lot of guys who want a 335 wagon. The X1 is the closest thing. The 328 wagon is limited by the N20 if you're looking for horsepower in the aftermarket. Plus, there's cost. I bought our M-sport X1 for $36k, loaded, 5k miles, with a 100k warranty. The 328 is much more, even used. The X3/Q5 is a huge boat, and nothing like the X1. I can't imagine a guy wanting a 335 wagon or an M235 hatch deciding on an X3. The N55 X1 made that choice a little closer. Anyway, it's clear that it's not your thing, and therefore, you don't get it. That's 100% fine. But seriously...your repeated dodging of people calling you out for your asinine comments is getting old.

Oh now we are talking real numbers? Here is a dyno from my car before I had my turbo upgraded and with the car unable to give full throttle because of the stupid e-diff. 340whp on a dyno dynamics heartbreaker dyno. So my car had about 380-400 crank horsepower before I upgraded the turbo and deleted the midcats.

I don't have a new turbo, just a clipped wheel. It cost $800. I would buy a Porsche, but to get one that is faster than my X1 I would have to go to the 991 Turbo - and that's about $150,000 starting price. I could get one faster than the 28i for really cheap though, it doesn't take much.

Umm...because we told you his car was modified...and after which...you STILL made references to HIS (modified) car?
Are you 1) a complete mouth breather or 2) just another d-bag who can't admit his own misstatements?

No I am talking about his car stock. What does a modified car have to do with this discussion. Any car can be made fast by modifying them. Dodge Neons can be modified to blow away his claimed quarter mile time.

For, what, the 5th time now? I have done nothing but praise the 28. Please, by all means, post where I said anything negative about it, at all. In fact, and again, I've posted it's the right choice for most buyers. I'll ask you again, are you ESL? What I said was, a small group of people like the N55 for its power POTENTIAL (aka when modified). You're so blinded in defense of your car, you're not realizing no one is attacking it. In fact, you are the only one attacking other people's choices. Again, read more, post less.

Here is your quote: "it hardly intended to be a "performance engine" if you're being honest. If you consider 240 HP in a 3700 lb car performance...well...you've set the bar low. 240 HP is pedestrian." |

I just checked my local Toyota dealership. They have 33 Rav4's in stock. All with the 4 cylinder. Also 33 Camry's 4 of which are 6 cylinder. The X1 is faster than Audi Q5 or Audi A4 or Mercedes GLK 350. You will note that your car does the quarter mile in 14.1 seconds according to car and driver. So your beloved x1 35 would get smoked by the RAV4 6 cylinder as well. Maybe you should trade in your pedestrian X1 and get a RAV 4 to mod. |

Really? I've stated, repeatedly, that I think the 28 is the better buy, and the better car for most people. I've also asked you why you were turning this into a 35 vs. 28 discussion, when the rest of us weren't trying to do so. You have the base engine. That's a fact. 240 (or even 260) in a 3700 lb. car isn't high performance in the automotive world. The performance scale changes quickly in today's cars. Almost a decade ago, 240-260 was the big six in a 3 series. It was the higher performance engine vs. the base. Now? It's the base. That's not bashing. If you insist on calling a car that runs mid 14s in the mid 90s "high performance", then again, I submit you have set the bar low. It's a peppy car with average performance for the price. Sorry that offends you, despite my repeated posts the the turbo 4 plus 8 speed has plenty of performance and makes the most sense for all but a few odd balls. I wouldn't call a stock N55 X1 a "high performance" car either, if that makes you feel any better about the discussion.

Whatever dude. You have a RAV 4 type performance. You can find one review that puts you 1/10 second faster to 1/4 mile than the RAV 4. Congrats! You could have gotten a RAV 4 had more room and saved a ton of money. And it probably could have been modded to be even faster and probably not look tacky like your X1. You mocked me for RAV 4 comparison and that is what you have at best. What did you pay close to 50k for your x1? And then how much on mods? That is truly sad. You are getting close to M3 money...Also my stock x28i at least looks decent. I hope you are 19 and not driving around in that thing as a middle aged man. |
