Thanks. We have GHOs nesting in the neighborhood too. This year they had a really late (second) brood and babies were begging for food well into December. They make a pretty creepy screaming sound when they're hungry.

Wow! That really surprises me. A "late" nest in Colorado would be March or April. Most of our nests are started in February, with a few earlier and a few later. I usually see the fledglings for two to three months after fledging, so that's usually over before summer is over.

Nice bear. Is that a local shot, or do have to go further north? Curious, I was looking at your flickr photostream. Lots of cool sightings. It got me wondering how long of a drive it would be to check out some snowy owls, black bears, grizzlies, etc.

Thanks man, that bear pic was taken up near Lake Nipigon, but we've got bears around here as well, just not the numbers like Northern Ontario. Snowy owls are all over Southern Ontario in the winter. The grizzly shots were taken out west on a road trip last summer. Fish shots are all over the place (Some taken in NY, OH and PA as well)

Thanks, I check the e-bird reports pretty regularly. Its a great link. I'm in South East, PA, near Philly. There have been a couple of individual sightings about an hour to my west, but it doesn't seem like any are repeatable this year, unforunately.

There's been a few Snowies that are easy to find about 50 miles from our place on Keuka Lake in NY this winter. Unfortunately, I haven't had any time to get up to the house for maintenance let alone bird chasing. There's also the two Great Grays in Robert Mose St Park near Massena this winter that I'd love to get out and see. No luck with time for that either, though.

Just to stay on topic, we did a little hiking last weekend and found a graffiti spot in the middle of the woods:

Fabulous wildlife shots from everyone, well done.

To get back to the more mundane, here's a shot of our river estuary at low tide. The River Lossie winds its way around the East Beach before finally emptying into The Moray Firth.
Although the sky looks quite threatening, it wasn't a bad afternoon here today. The temperature was up to around 8C.

Crap picture, but it was kind of neat this morning. There was a young Red Tail watching over a fluffed up Red Shoulder Hawk in my back yard. I snapped this out my bathroom window (nothing to do with the 'crap' title of the picture).
