My CA modified an existing production slot for my car. I ordered it Sept. 17, it went into production on Sept. 19, and it showed as completed on Sept. 26. Now awaiting word of which ship it ends up on. I'd like to have it here before Thanksgiving because I have a long drive to the in-laws and it would be a much more pleasant trip in a new car.

our boat (Florida Highway) got to the port a week ago and my dealer is saying it still looks 2-3 weeks out. Boo!! I think their processing time has really slowed down due to a higher demand.

I ordered my X1 9/22 and after several days with no info I found out today it is in production and should be out by the end of the week. If I am lucky it will catch a 10/20 Bremerhaven ship with Port Hueneme as a destination, mid-November. If not, looks like the next ship out is early November. Takes around 25 days at sea between Bremehaven and Port Hueneme. We'll see.

So, my X1 was offloaded in Baltimore on Monday and it's still listed as being in the "Finishing Touches" stage of production. How long should I expect it to take before it's at the dealer (about 25 miles from Baltimore)?

If you're looking on the My BMW site, my understanding is that info can be 1-2 days behind. I imagine your dealer will call when the car reaches them. But I also understand that it's not all that unusual for off-loaded cars to sit a while before they get picked up for delivery, for various reasons...

To close the loop on timing, I took delivery yesterday. So August 20 - October 6 from order to delivery.

Happy for y'all getting those seemingly swift (to me) deliveries. Having ordered Sep.11, saw the status change to "Production Begins" Sep.25 but as of today it has not changed. WTF? Some of the excitement evaporating as the X1 now unlikely to arrive before the expiry date of our Olympic $1,000 voucher. Same thing happened last year when our unexpectedly delayed X3 also arrived just after the expiry of last years $1,000 drive voucher. Figured 7 weeks would give me a shot at delivery before Oct.31.

Irish-
I was able to complete the purchase and apply the discount once the vin was issued. You take a risk by buying the car sight unseen but it may be worth it if you want to save 1000 as long as the build order looks correct. |

Will let y'all know how it turns out. Assuming you are correct, does anybody out there know how soon the VIN# is available after production completes? Last edited by Irish-Texan; 10-09-2012 at 01:24 AM.. |

Astoundingly, it has taken 6 moths and still no car!!!!
I placed a downpayment on my 2012 330i BMW on April 13th. Here is the timeline:
4/13 Ordered Car at Dealer 4/23 Order Documented 6/7 Production Begins 7/9 Production Ends 8/17 en route to US 10/5 Finishing touches Easily the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a car dealer. |

I'm curious about when the VIN# is obtained as well. Car completed production on 9/3, i've been accessing all my info via the production #. Car's on the Antares Leader which just docked in Port Hueneme this morning (yes!) but no VIN# yet...

Here's my timeline for my X1 28i xDrive order:
1. Sept 3rd (labor day) - Ordered car, but most likely the order took place on the 4th. 2. No contact for about 3 weeks until I emailed the dealer. They got back to me promptly and let me know that I had a production number and date. 3. Sept 24th - Car went into production. 4. Sept 28th - Car finished production and has left the plant. 5. Oct 7th - Ship leaves Bremerhaven. The ship is projected to arrive at Port Hueneme on the west coast on Oct. 31st. The wait has been pretty brutal and still seems so far away. When it's all said and done, and allowing for a week after the ship docks, it will have been 9 weeks from order to the delivery to the dealer or possibly me. By the way, this will be my first BMW and I've found this forum really helpful! It also helps with the long wait. This seems like a great community! |

Ordered my on 9/29 and it just went into production today(10/11)! Mine only has the paddle shifter option so maybe it would be faster to build? |

Just went to a store and parked right next to a X1 and it looked so much smaller than my Sorento V6. I don't know if I should wait another 2 years for the 2015 X1....
