Have a question for you though. I contacted BMS via email regarding the n55 air intake that you said youre gonna install on your X1, and the rep says it won't be compatible with X1. Well, seemed like you are expecting it soon, so it must be compatible. I also just ordered my X1 last Friday and interested in installing the n55 air intake lol can you update me back with pics and after-installed please? Thanks a lot!! EDIT : or it does fit on X1 but only for 35i engine? Cos mine will be 28i Last edited by MidgetInBikini; 11-09-2012 at 01:49 PM.. |

It only fits on the N55 engine which is 35i, the 28i has the n20 engine |

cfrem15, can you suggest me any air intake that would do the same performance like the BMS one but for n20. I will look into it, but perhaps you know something. ( newbie here, never mod any of my cars (engine)) thanks! |

The N20 is still fairly new and i never really pay much attention to it since i have n55, but there are some prototypes out there, but i don't think anything has been released... if you go into the 3 Forum you might be able to find out more info

Just drove it with new mod and I can tell the difference it has more tork and the turbo's really sing...... Sweet! Defiantly can tell a difference in power. not a hole lot but it is much more responsive and has zero lag.

I swear by K&N (oil-soaked cloth fiber) filters myself - they have always given me both more performance and better mileage. The downside is that they do let slightly more particles through - there is a tiny amount of pitting in the pistons of my old 4.9l engine after ten years (with the same filter!), but not enough that it is inconsistent with ten years of use, or affects anything. Oh, and the K&N filters aren't available for the X1 35i yet. So your mini-review is useful info! |

Have you guys ever heard of this one? http://www.**********s.com/Evolution-Racewerks-Intake-F30.htm
It says it fits n20 engine. (Which i think will fit on my x1 too) but it is still a prototype. |

I just remove mods before going to dealer... The ER intake will not work on the X1 as far as I know also. The E84 and the F30 have different air boxes and plumbing and the engine bays are different so mounting points will vary

What about your aFe drop in filter, does it add more hp/torque or decreased accel lag? Also, i believe that bmw built in computer will record everything when you mod the cables, do the dealer will notice these mods even if the JB is removed during service? Thanks! |

Best bet is to become friendly with a service advisor or get a Bavarian scan tool...
The aFe drop in I wasn't looking for performance I just wanted it to breath better... Should help with mpg also |

You want more torque add a stage 2 JB and you will be amazed how fast it is. I have the JB and intake and the car flies now. You'll add about 85HP

It says its not traceable but how much truth is that? What harm can or will it cause to the engine if any? Gas milage will suffer correct? due to driving fast or it makes the engine suck up more gas? Sorry I'm a little uneducated these things but need to learn...
