I'm waiting for my engine to cool off some more before trying this, but was there any trick to removing the connection? It looks like it may have some sort of a locking mechanism that should be released.

It's a big diffenrece. In sport plus it just feels all around stronger. Since we have 93 octane around here I spent all day driving around quite hard in race mode which is 4psi more. I love it in race mode. It feels like a different car acceleration wise, especially in the passing range at highway speeds. I've been around modifying cars for a long time and can't thing of more bang for the buck. When you are not on the accleration or just lightly cruising it car behaves just like stock.
Question for Dinan, are the HP numbers you quote in sport+ or race Mode? Also would additional octane beyond 93 produce any more power. At track days here 100 is usually available. |

I can only make an unscientific butt judgment, but that said I definitely feel there is a clear difference.
For me, where I've really noticed it so far is when driving using the Sport+ setting and the normal transmission mode. Even with the less aggressive shift points it basically felt like I was driving the car pre-mod with the tranny in sport mode. I pretty much always drive in the standard mode when my wife is in the car with me and actually had to be very careful about being light footed. I initially stepped on the gas in the manner that I typically would with her in the car and she ended up immediately reaching for the hand grip and giving me the "wife look". During the week I should have quite a few more opportunities to drive around with the tranny in sport mode. |

Make sure your dealer does not rip you off on install or ordering it. It literally takes 1 minute to plug in and 1 more minute to zip tie to the strut tower. If I didn't have one I say it sounded to good to be true. I'll stop now or require Dinan to pay me 😉

Been using this on my 28i for a a while now, i can tell a difference; its not ground breaking by any means. 5-7k is much better and overtaking cars is much more pleasurable. Overall it is what it is, a mild performance boost. I dont really see much improved 0-40 mph nor would i expect it. 40-80 is where you can feel it as far as a larger difference.
Would i buy it again. Sure. As long as you understand that this isnt a full blown tune. Installation was 10 seconds. You'll spend more time zip tying the module somewhere. I would have liked to see a second loop or anchor point on the top of the box but thats just nitpicking. App isnt polished yet, works fine but i had some oddities when screwing around with it. A "Help" or instructions to explain what does what would be nice, but youll figure it out in a matter of seconds anyhow. Good: Stupid simple install, easy to change settings via app, price, lots of cable for mounting. Bad: App needs polishing but works, second mounting tab would be nice on box. Ugly: I no longer have $300 for hookers and blow. |

Has anyone else experienced a check engine light?
I installed as per the instructions, the android app connected and I could change the settings but I kept getting a check engine light on the dash for the charge pipe. I didn't try to drive and even when I cleared it with the dinantronics sport installed it returned. When I took it off and cleared the light everything was back to normal. I'd like to think I didn't do something wrong but I must've. Everything was connected fine and no CEL before. Thoughts?

not that I have this system, but it sounds like you plugged one of the plugs into the wrong spot. some of the plugs are exactly alike. check everything over again.

**update
I was finally able to get it to work. Dinan was very helpful and worked with me to troubleshoot throughout the process. I needed to have the car asleep in order to disconnect the cable and then subsequently connect the Dinan unit. When I first installed it the light turned on right away even though car was off and no keys in ignition. when I installed it and it worked the light didn't turn on until I woke the car up by opening a door. I then connected to the unit with the app and finally started the car as the last step. After about 2 weeks of driving the CEL came back and I couldn't clear it or get it to work anymore. I ended up removing it (which cleared my CEL) and returning it. Too many issues with it. Overall it was nice when it worked.

JB4 has been great. Running 40% blend of E85 with 93 has made the car feel better than OEM smooth with power when I want it. Driving chill, I don't even notice it on there (which is what I want since I don't care to beat on the car that frequently). Can't imagine this being better |
