Hehe, that was destined to fail. Having owned both a 135i and an X1 35i, I find it impossible to think that someone would think the X1 would do straight line or track performance better than the 1er. The E82 has 500 fewer pounds, larger and better brakes, more efficient power delivery and a mountain more available aftermarket suspension stuff.

I'll take a 500 pound lighter car that's much lower to the ground with better tires and a more sorted suspension every time. |

The fact of the matter is, the X1 is the perfect only car for a lot of people. Moreover, it's actually completely unique in the marketplace far as I can tell. The X1 is the only car on the market I could find that satisfied the following criteria: 1. Enough ground clearance to get over 6+ inches of snow, potholes, steep driveway curbs, but not too much ground clearance to the point of a severe handling penalty. 2. Enough straight line speed to beat a Cayenne Turbo or M3 in a straight line with a simple tune. Let's face it - for 99% of people, the most important type of speed is straight line on the road - be it stoplight to stoplight or passing/merging on the highway. The X1 is actually better suited for this kind of driving than even the M3 due to the torque. 3. Enough cargo capacity to make a run to Ikea or home depot. I've already fit an entire Ikea Tobo TV stand in the back of the X1 4. A high quality interior. 5. AWD for inclement weather Literally no other car - not the M135i, not the WRX STI, not the X3, etc, etc fit these criteria. That's why the X1 will be a great seller in the US - a country where the climate and requirements are very different than other portions of the world. I respect your enthusiasm, and honestly it's nice to see in an X1 owner. I also think you're fairly safe that the kangaroo rogerer will stay where he is and that this is all internet humor.

Dragtimes.org, my friend. Tuned N55's beat stock M3's in the 1/4 mile consistently and easily. Especially N55's on e85 like mine. My X1 has 150-200lb/ft MORE torque than a stock M3, with equivalent horsepower, AWD for the launch, and only weighs about 200lbs more. Will an M3 be faster from 120mph-170mph? Sure. That's what we call useless speed in the US. The upshot? There isn't a stock M3 in existence that will beat my X1 from a red light, to a merge, or on the highway.

your being an x1 fan boy right now i have nothing against an x1 its nice, but your arrogance is so dumbfounding and ridiculous when you argue that no stock m3 in existence is faster than your modded x1. Congratulations your modded car can beat a stock car real good comparison einstein. My friends 1995 civic turbo also does that

I'm just saying a M3 not faster in a straight line than a modded N55 (until ridiculous, triple digit speeds at which point the aerodynamic and gearing advantages of the M3 will have it pull ahead). I don't get what's the big deal about saying that? No need for insults, especially when you're the one having difficulty reading and going off on all kinds of tangential red herrings. Facts are a bitch:
http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--135i-Drag-Racing.html http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--335i-Drag-Racing.html http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--M3-Drag-Racing.html M3 is clearly the better overall car. M3 is clearly the nicer car. M3 is clearly slower in a straight line than a n55 powered car with $400 of mods. |
