Nothing wrong with that, but I'm tempted to go the other way and lift it slightly to get more wheel clearance - much like the other aspect of the WRX STI, as a rally car |

That would require cutting the head off the included power cord that's h/w for the cig adapter, a choice I did not wish to make.

Your wheel fitment looks spot on. Would you please share your wheel specs, width F/R, offsets, possible spacers used, etc? It is time to for us to start to settle in on aftermarket wheel choices and there is limited information out there as to what aggressive wheels fitments work on the new X1. Thanks |

Tires are Michelin PSS, 245/40/19 fronts, 275/35/19 rears. If you're not interested in rolling fenders/fender trim tabs, getting friendly with the dremmel on those fender trim pieces, or gently persuading fenders liners to take a modified shape with a heat gun etc, then a setup similar to mine isn't advisable. That's not to say it was a particularly difficult task, it's just obviously not in everyone's comfort zone massaging body pieces to make wheels and tires fit properly. If that is your "bag", then good on you.....my setup certainly isn't at the limit of possibilities if you're inclined to push things a little further. I like relatively aggressive but still day to day usable wheel fitments. I didn't really buy the X1 as an SUV but more of a wagon, hence the direction it's going. Despite the odd path for an SUV, reactions to it have been overwhelmingly positive.....after the initial "WTH is that" type questions of course |

Thanks for the detailed reply. You threw me off for a minute with the A disk and O disk specs but a quick google search enlightened me-- it's a Works thing
I have plenty of experience with fender lip rolling and pulling, BFH messaging of finders/liners, etc to get get aggressive wheels to fit. But that experience has been mainly with our track cars to get fat wide race rubber to fit and where aesthetics are second to function. Since this is going to be a street only daily driver I doubt we will get anywhere near that point with the wheel fitment, esp in light of winter salt exposure to the fenders. It is just nice to get a ball park estimate as to what size wheels and tires fit on this car to get to a more aggressive look. Part of my issue is the whole tall suspension SAV thing-- for those of us who really just wanted a 1 series 4 door hatch (preferably 1M variant . . .) but the asthetic of the stock X1 wheel offsets/anemic stance leaves a lot of room for improvement. I might just open up a separate thread asking for people to compile their experiences with aftermarket wheels/offsets/spacers on the X1 to help us X1 newbies visualize what the different options look like. |

First off, BEAMERBOI, that X1 looks bad@ss. The mods look great! The black wheels are awesome. I got my first BMW ever and OMG do I love it!! New 2014 X1 xDrive 35i. Black/Black. It is having a Dinan stage 2 and window tint put on right now... I will update with results... And yes, I will post pictures! |

I did read that other tunes can give you more HP for less money (85 vs 55 HP, $600 vs $2000). It's my D/D and ski car though, and I am keeping it for at least 6+ years, so I wanted 100% piece of mind. I still have a modded Hayabusa if I want to go stupid fast Let you all know how it feels mile high vs stock. Turbos make a big difference up here vs n/a. Anybody else with tuning package experiences with the X1?? |
