✅ Day 7 – Sunday, July 6, 2025

"The Alpine Grand Slam"

This was the big day — the most anticipated and spectacular drive of HGT'25 Cross-Alps. A full-throttle experience across Switzerland’s finest alpine passes. Here's a closer look at each segment of our unforgettable route:

🛏️ Morning Start – Landhaus Hotel, Furkastrasse.

Before departure, we enjoyed one last glimpse of our peaceful base in Furkastrasse. Cozy vibes, mountain air, and great hospitality made this a perfect launch point for the day's adventure. Also was time for Rodney and his wonderful G81 M3T join the tour!

Today we’re thrilled to have Rodney and his stunning M3 Touring join the tour — what a treat! 🚘🔥

🏔️ Nufenenpass (2,478 m)

Our first major climb — the second-highest paved road in Switzerland. Wide open roads with incredible views of the Valais region and snow still clinging to the peaks. A perfect warm-up with light traffic and photo-worthy stops.

🌉 Airolo & Ticino Region

A descent into the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, with a noticeable shift in scenery, architecture, and atmosphere. A quick refuel and regroup before we tackled the big names.

💧 Susten Pass (2,224 m)

A driver’s dream. Sweeping curves, long visibility, and waterfalls cutting through the mountain slopes. The Susten delivered a smooth and flowing rhythm — everyone had a chance to stretch their cars (and legs) properly here.

Photo dump loading... 😄📸 This adventure’s far from over – stay tuned!

I guess the next one will be the Grimsel pass!

It's one of my favorite!

Haha, the F87 is definitely putting on a show here! But let’s be honest — both have their own charm. The G87 will have its moments too!

🗻 Grimsel Pass (2,164 m)

Sculpted through granite, Grimsel is raw and majestic. The lake views and towering dam make this a scenic and industrial marvel. We took a moment at the top to breathe in the elevation and alpine energy.

Furka ahead!

🎬 Furka Pass & James Bond Strasse (2,429 m)

Back on legendary tarmac — Furka is pure driving pleasure. Famous from Goldfinger, the pass blends tight hairpins with long stretches and sweeping views over the Rhône Glacier. We passed by the iconic Hotel Belvédère and the James Bond curve.

It was busy!!!

With mjn77

At this stage, Marek and Dom were getting ready to part ways with the group. It’s been an absolute pleasure and a lot of fun driving alongside them! Looking forward to the next time we meet on the road!

Even though temperatures are starting to drop, if there’s a chance for the OG to enjoy some proper fresh air, we’re all for it!

We wanted to stay forever but we need to move on ....

Time to get some gas ....

We were looking for the San Bernardino Pass before hitting the hotel but we were caught in a queue ..

And then came the heavy downpour!

So yeah we're off to the hotel taking motorway.

🏁 Final Destination: Hotel Seeblick, Sufers

Our day ended at a familiar and beloved place — Hotel Seeblick, right by the lake. The same venue from our 2022 tour, and still just as charming. A well-earned dinner, stories shared, and engines finally at rest after one of the greatest alpine days we’ve ever had.

🔧 Car & Crew Notes

Temperatures ranged between 13°C at the high passes and over 30°C in the valleys.

Cars handled impressively — only minor heat-related concerns.

Plenty of GoPros, smiles, and friendly waves along the way.

New bonds forged, old friendships reinforced.

Yes, I live in Switzerland and I like doing little roadtrips around.

If you have the opportunity to go around Lake Lucerne, it's really stunning.

There are some nice cablecars that bring you to summit (pilatus, Rigi Kulm) with incredible views. There is also a nice (and less known) pass called Klausen pass, near Altdorf, which offers great scenery and a nice road.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I’ve been to Lake Lucerne before but missed out on the cable cars — definitely something for next time! Klausen Pass remains one of my all-time favorites; such a breathtaking route. I must admit, I'm a bit envious of you being so close to all these stunning places. I could easily spend all my time there, just soaking in the beauty that’s all around!

It's having a moment on the front page right now... Draped in chameleon paint and loaded with a bunch of crap parts.

Day 8 – Monday, July 7, 2025

Following yesterday’s incredible experience driving through some of Switzerland’s most breathtaking passes, the tour continues with even more scenic routes ahead. The cars were well parked with plenty of space for everyone — all set for another great day on the road.

I always struggle to park

And off we go... next up: the legendary Splügen Pass!

Straddling the border between Switzerland and Italy, the Splügen Pass (Passo dello Spluga) is one of the most dramatic and lesser-known alpine routes in the region. Twisting its way through the Swiss canton of Graubünden into Italy’s Lombardy region, this high mountain pass offers an exhilarating drive full of tight switchbacks, old stone guardrails, and steep climbs that test both driver and machine.

At 2,113 meters (6,932 ft) above sea level, the pass delivers not only a thrilling drive but also spectacular views of rugged peaks, glacial valleys, and deep gorges. Unlike the wide and polished highways of some more famous passes, Splügen retains a raw, untamed character — making it especially rewarding for enthusiasts.

Whether you're hugging the narrow curves on the Swiss side or descending into the dramatic Italian hairpins, it's a true alpine driving gem that demands respect — and delivers pure joy.

With mjn77

So we're back in Italy!

Found some Portuguese special beer here!

The scenery is simply breathtaking — and these roads… just wow!

Next on our route: the Maloja Pass — a uniquely beautiful and scenic drive in the Swiss Alps!

The Maloja Pass (Passo del Maloja) connects the Upper Engadin region in Switzerland with the Bregaglia Valley and Italian-speaking canton of Graubünden, serving as a dramatic transition between alpine and Mediterranean landscapes. Sitting at an elevation of 1,815 meters (5,955 ft), it’s not the highest pass on our tour, but it’s one of the most visually striking.

What makes Maloja Pass particularly distinctive is the sharp contrast between its two sides. On one end, you have the high plateau of St. Moritz and Lake Sils, surrounded by open alpine meadows and glacial lakes. Then, as the descent begins toward the Bregaglia Valley, the road drops dramatically through a tight series of hairpin bends carved into steep mountain walls, almost like a natural rollercoaster carved into stone.

This pass isn’t just about technical driving — it’s a photographer’s dream. Expect incredible panoramas, reflections off the alpine lakes, and sweeping views down into lush valleys below. It’s a route that captures the essence of Swiss alpine beauty while offering a rewarding and memorable drive.

In short: Maloja Pass blends serenity, scenery, and spirited driving all in one go.

Next up: Julier Pass — a stunning high-altitude road in the Swiss Alps!

Located at 2,284 meters, Julier Pass connects Silvaplana (near St. Moritz) with Bivio and Tiefencastel, offering smooth, wide roads and sweeping curves that are a joy to drive. The scenery is dramatic, with rugged peaks, alpine lakes, and striking rock formations. It’s less tight than some other passes, making it perfect for an enjoyable and flowing mountain drive with breathtaking views all around. A must for any driving enthusiast!

Guys are off to enjoy some thrills on the Alpine Roller Coaster! 🎢⛰️ ...

Some decided not to go on the Alpine roller coaster fun and stayed in the valley.

Now it’s time to press forward, and the journey toward Oberalp Pass proved to be truly spectacular. This iconic Alpine route, nestled in the heart of Switzerland, offered breathtaking vistas with its steep, winding roads cutting through rugged mountains and lush valleys. The pass, standing at an impressive 2,044 meters, delivered a thrilling drive with its sharp curves and dramatic elevation changes, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and pristine alpine scenery that made every moment unforgettable.

And we've made it!

From here we're heading towards our lovely hotel at Brunnen ..

Today marks the final official day of the tour—and what an incredible journey it's been! We've had the pleasure of driving some of the most breathtaking roads in the world, surrounded by amazing people and spectacular cars. Truly an unforgettable experience!

Rodney headed back to his hometown of Zurich last night—so great to finally catch up!

Malcolm & Lucy, Jennifer & Magda, Richard, and Steve are all in route back to England, with some planning to enjoy a few days in Ghent. Ferenc and Deli back to Slovenia. Oliver and Marvin are making their way home to Hamburg, while Mads and Line still have a long drive ahead back to Norway, with an exciting detour through Austria—how awesome is that? Wish we could tag along!

As for my wife and me, we’re on our way back to the Netherlands, but first we're heading to Heidelberg for a night at the beautiful Berggasthof Königstuhl. We might even catch up with some fellow club members—Alex, Tanja, and their lovely dog.

But before we hit the road... time to snap a few more photos of this stunning place. It’s absolutely gorgeous here!

Our room view:

Only two parking spots were available, so we ended up parking a five-minute walk from the hotel—though I didn’t anticipate this rain.

No car wash needed!

Moved to the hotel parking!

Also is time to make the final pics from the official tour!

And we're off to Heidelberg.

And we arrive our lovely hotel. Recommended!

It seems there’s an awesome spot for the paragliding activity! Wild!!

We’re having dinner with Alex and Tanja, and with some time to spare, we’ve chosen to head downtown and explore.

Back to the hotel garage and we've new guests!

A very nice train that goes all way down to Heidelberg.

Yes and we had great food with Alex, Tanja and their lovely dog!
