Am I doing something wrong? Using the wrong products? Suggestions for what I should use? Thanks!
How old are you towels?
Have you applied any water beading (ceramic, rainX, etc.) products to your car lately?
Ceramic coated the paint or the glass?

Unless you wash them right after the application, before ceramic liquid dries, the microfibers in the towels will get permanently coated and loose absorbency.

I've used Rags to Riches successfully for years.

Having said that, microfiber towels have a finite lifespan. Once they get dirty and oil, not all the grime will wash off. Over time, I move more heavily used up towels from "A" into "B" (still good, but not fresh) and eventually into "C" (only good for wheels) pile. Then I regularly buy more towels to refresh "A" bag, and throw away some from the "C" bag.

Also, if you, or someone else, ran the drying on "hot" cycle, that will permanently melt the micro fibers and produce the outcome you have described.

Long story short, it may be time for both some new towels and a new detergent!

I use the Chemical Guys or Griots wash. I use these Chemical Guys towels. They work incredibly well and last a long time. I feel I more than get my money's worth. Plus the color shows any contamination so even if they feel soft I know to replace it.

Started with Chemical guys orange mf cleaner - worked great, smelled great
Then tried budget friendly Malco refresh - worked great, smelled meh
Now trying P&S rags to riches - workes great, smells good, not great. Cool color. i got a gallon on sale for $20.

I wouldn't pay the normal $40 for a gallon of CG or P&S. if retail, I'd just buy the $25-30 gallon of Malco.
