I'm thinking more in terms of overheating. You're probably right that the computer has failsafes in place for this, I'm just not trusting a $100 cheap Chinese device with a $25,000 car. Poor engineering on either side, or just plain bad luck, could end up being very expensive so proper install is a good safety precaution.
Also that port is used to update the car's firmware and with the news of various cars getting hacked I feel safer not plugging in more devices than I have to. |
