45,000 mi. front brakes and rotors, and a thermostat, fan wouldn't stop, and last weekend the tether cord that keeps the fuel cap connected to the car broke. I love this car.

50,000 and I have a slight chain rattle.
Damn N47's! BMW denied hearing anything at all so I am having a report worked at an indy specialist and taking it from there. Apart from that all is well apart from horrible steeering at times. |

Looks like I'll be keeping X1 long term, as the air bag recall could be 2 years away from a fix, and dealers won't take them as trade ins with open recall. 200k a possibility!!

Not meaning to hijack the thread but I heard that BMW is planning to help dealers financially due to them but being able to sell the recalled cars. So this might change their stance on trade ins

Hit 11.5k and just had first oil change, installed a JB4 and letting that settle in on my 35i. As they say in the Mazda world, Zoom Zoom!

Hey jpc647
I have the 18d Sdrive model. 2.0 diesel (143bhp) in other words. I've had the timing chain replaced twice under warranty, a power steering pump pully (or something like that) and a few odds and ends like rattles etc sorted out. Generally in the 99k miles I've now put on the car (106k in total now) it's been very good. The service indicator is now showing the next service is due in 1600 miles. Looks like pads/rotas all round and oil. Plus I've now got a cracked front screen. Better get my credit card ready! J. |

I also had the thermostat that went out at 20k and fixed under warranty. Also, the fuel vent valve was bad. Now at 26k. Love the car and currently researching transmission drain and fill procedures with filter change at around 50k. $26 a quart, have to think about how many times I will have to drain and fill to completely clean the transmission. I have 1 year to think about it before I reach 50k. 2014 bmw x1 s drive 2.8i. Oil change every 7500 miles. Was a dealer's manager car and acquired it at 7000 miles.
