And you can hook up a bluetooth/wifi/usb dongle to the port under the dash, and with the right software delete the codes from a PC or mobile phone. |

Installed properly, the BMS Stage 1 tunes do not trigger codes. If a code were to be triggered, a BT Scanner tool is required to read & clear codes. The BMS CAN tool will only clear codes on the X1 (no read or other features supported at this time). (info is according to BMS)

But the need to buy a scantool pretty much comes with running some form of tune that you don't want the dealership/maker knowing about. If a code does set for any reason on the vehicle you need to know what it is so you can decide whether or not to put the vehicle back stock. None of these tunes should throw a code in a normal config, otherwise it means it needs more work.

JB4 and Cobb simply autodelete if you have them enabled, but not sure on how the lower end tunes handle it. But the bottom line is that if you're raising boost, shadow codes will be thrown. The correct statement is that the tunes do not light up a SES or throw codes that they cannot delete. As long as you use the tunes or a code reader to clear the shadow tuner codes, you're 100% fine. |

I don't want to get into an argument here, but it has been documented that the manner in which the BMS Stage 1 tunes operate no tuner codes are triggered as even the MAF signal is intercepted and manipulated. The DME is tricked into producing more power while appearing to be operating within normal parameters.

Sorry, that's not the case. Check out n54tech - even Terry himself will tell you that. All tunes eventually throw tuner codes. Did you ever actually log the codes from your engine with the USB cable? I did and saw the same two/three tuner codes that everyone else sees.

You are the first I've read of someone triggering codes with Stage 1. Perhaps you are referring to Stage 2 or my information only applies to the N20/N26 and not N55. Quote:

We have been discussing both 28i and 35i tunes in this thread.
After checking Terry's posts, you are correct in regards to the N55 stage 1 tunes triggering codes and the CAN tool or BT scanner is recommended. Stage 2 includes code clearing. The N20/N26 Stage 1 does not trigger codes. Stage 2 is still under development so full details are not yet available. Sorry for the confusion as I was incorrect regarding the N55. Paradoxical3 had it right. |

Yes, I think we're all just trying to get the overall situation(s) straight for those looking at and considering the various "tune" options out there currently and becoming available. I've mainly been speaking to the 35i because that's what I have, and since I don't have access to or a friend with a 28i.
No one "tune" method works for everyone because our personal situations and goals are different.

Yeah, wecome back, BB. Blackened up your X1 any more?
I'm somewhat unsure what the X4 has to offer - with less space than the X1/X3/X5, and the same engines as the X1, I'm a bit nonplussed. In the M variety it might make sense, but then you talk big money too, so it better trounce a non-M X6 M-Sport. Now the 3 GT, I might want to take for a test drive. While not as tall, it's still raised, with plenty of space and still sporty. |

With stage 2 JB4 it's absolutely under 5 seconds. With e85 and flexfuel wires I wouldn't be surprised to be approaching 4.1-4.2 seconds via brake boosting with an aggressive launch.

That one I have video of is a stock 35i and it was like 5.21 ? I wasn't straining anything to get that. I bet a real go-getter could get that close to 5, stock.

Yeah I agree, BWM isn't brake boosting them @ 2.5k rpm for their figures! I have a feeling they are just mashing the gas from a stop.
