Some of you like the really shiny stuff by your pics. That's' definitely not my style.
I'm running the Obsessed Garage Tire Dressing: https://www.obsessedgarage.com/colle...-tire-dressing It seems pricey, but if you properly clean your tires to start (with Stoners Tarminator) and also clean your tires with a tire / rubber cleaner or wheel cleaner when washing, it lasts a good month in applications. And the 32 oz bottle lasts me, like literally, well over a year. I don't put much on and I wipe down after about 2-3 minutes and it leaves a nice matte finish, no overly shiny stuff. Let me see if I can find a good pic.... Shade: Sun: Last edited by Needsdecaf; 05-06-2025 at 10:16 AM.. |

I recommend anything water based. Use neat for higher shine or dilute to your desired finish. I like a dark rich satin finish. I don't like the glazed donut look. Using a microfiber applicator makes the finish more consistent. See link below. If you have larger tires like for an SUV, then I apply with a brush.
My Favorite - Low Profile Applicator I would highly recommend that you DO NOT use a "Solvent Based" dressing. |

I've been trying Soft99 products lately and found their Tire Black Wax to my liking. It's not glossy but it keeps the tires look black and clean for about a month. Last time it was available on Amazon I picked it up for $25.

FWIW, I took delivery of a 25' M3CX and used the Chemical Guys Tire and Trim Gel on the freshly clean virgin tires and I am impressed so far. The gloss is very high and it dries fast. Easy to apply. Says it protects the tires too from the elements. Happy with it so far. Need to see how long it lasts.

I've switched to Adam's products for some of this.
I use their wheel and tire cleaner. Scrub tire with stuff brush. Then their graphene tire coating. Last a couple weeks with no flinging. Really awesome. I have 2 kids and no time to spend endlessly detailing like I used to.

I've used Ammo Mud for a long time and am very happy w/ it. Easy to put on, no sling, and not particularly shiny. Seems to be among, if not the, most positively reviewed of Larry's products overall (together with hydrate). My buddy has started using the Obsessed Garage dressing on his M2 and is a fan as well.

My go-to is Aqua Gloss from Superior. If you're not familiar, Superior is used by a LOT of professional detailers. Quality products, very good price.
Aqua Gloss is water based (very important to use a water based dressing) and you can slap it on straight for a high gloss shine, or 1:1 diluted for a more satin / flat finish. Photo of it attached used straight on my clients E92. |

Can you give examples of synthetic dressings? Thanks!

What I've learned about tire shines is how good the product looks is tire dependent. Some products look great on some sidewalls and the same product looks like crap on a different sidewall. Pilot Sport 4S, for example, really hard for most products to look even and not splotchy, even if the tire is perfectly clean using mineral spirits. I like OG Tire Dressing, recently pivoted back to Perl for a while, now trying out Darkside.
