Any of the films being discussed here block IR/UV/heat? Could they be an option for sunroof since they are applied outside of glass?

I have xpel ceramic tint on the inside and xpel into protection on the outside. The tint does an excellent job of blocking heat. I did not go too dark because of driving at night. Any more tint darkness would not be ideal.

Windscreen or Sunroof? Sunroof may be subjected to much higher temps due to it facing skywards and when parked in the sun so trying to avoid tint inside to not trap heat in the glass that could potentially lead to excessive or uneven expansion of glass...

if I had a sun roof I would definitely do tint on it. xxpel ceramic does a great job repelling heat

Pretty sure sunroof gets same amount of sun as windshield and rear glass

Actually, it's most definitely a thing. True, it doesn't happen often, but it happens often enough that I'd rather not risk it. Roundel (the BMW Car Club magazine) just did an article on windshield replacement a few months (4-6?) ago. It was an interesting read. Also, what they didn't advertise, but you can tell it happened if you read between the lines, is that the first installation didn't turn out well and the windshield had to be replaced a second time. I think the first one leaked. That's my big fear - a small leak can actually go undetected for a LONG, long time.

Not worth it imo, I believe the shops charge around $500 for it. I replaced my windshield for $700 a few months ago. The dealer wanted $2400 🇨🇦. For that price I’d be happy to replace the windshield as needed.
