Remove finger rings before driving?

Anyone else do this? I saw a few detailers recommend it because the metal can bite into the leather steering wheel and wear it out over time.

Not to drive but I do take my ring and watch off when I’m working on it, be that washing, cleaning or mechanical

Stones mounted to rings (wedding, engagement) can also cause cuts or scratches to the leather.

Very true. My Q7's steering wheel always gets little ripple cuts in it from my wife's engagement/wedding rings. You can usually massage them out with a little leather conditioning product, but it's very annoying (why she won't ever drive my car...that and I'm not letting her ginormous Stanley in the car).

So be it.
10+ years with F80 and 30+ years with other cars with (mostly) leather steering wheels and wearing wedding ring - not a problem.
My wife may have scratched one (1) leather steering wheel a decade or so ago, but I am not even sure how.

YMMV,

I wear no jewelry except for a fitbit. Wife stopped complaining about my lack of wedding band years ago. Oh, she wears her wedding ring, but I see no damage to the cars she drives (e60, g30), except for the hand lotion stains I have to wipe off every now and then. My wife is the best!

I never even wear my wedding ring. My 330ci had a lot of scratches behind the passenger door handle. The prior owner's wife must have had a 10 carat zircon.

Same

If your wife doesn't care if you wear a wedding band that means she doesn't think you could pull a new girl. Huge red flag.

Haha, those giant Stanley cups are comical!

Thanks for the info, I guess I'm not overdoing it. I like to wear chunky jewelry and I don't want my leather to get all scuffed up.

My wife tears up the leather in her hand pull and paint on the Escalade door handle area. I always double PPF that spot for her
