2014 X-1 : Wireless backup camera and Apple integration.
New to the forum and new to BMW's.
I am very new to BMW's and some of the technology terminology is confusing me while trying to find a solution to my problem. Hopefully someone can recommend a all-in-one solution for me. I recently picked up a 2014 X1 for my wife. This car is a non iDrive car (I only have the storage compartment). She loves the car but is missing the backup camera and ability to play music and podcasts from her phone. I am not keen on spending 100$ for the proper USB cord and it doesn't solve the backup camera issue. I want to maintain as much of an OEM look as possible and as I look online for solutions there are a lot of terms used (models, software versions) that I don't understand, some items are screen upgrades only, etc.. Can anyone recommend from personal experience a good solution for adding a touchscreen (preferably with wireless car play) , with an iDrive type controller and wireless rear camera. Any help is appreciated. |

I recently went through this same thing for my daughter’s car. We put together our own package from a few Amazon vendors and are happy with it so far. We went cheap (about $400 all in) and decided it was worth a try. 4 months in and no issues. The hardest part was finding the right wires on the backup lights to trigger power for the camera.
