Jason... that is very interesting since that will be the debut of the F01/02 7 Series as well. I also did not think they needed to display a "concept" for the X1 since the concept is not entirely new... a mini X6 (which was a concept since the SAC design was not utilized before.) The E90 LCI will be there as well. I wonder about releasing all these new items at one venue.... the Z4 supposedly already is planned for L.A.
We shall see!

Should be a busy show that's for sure!
So, considering it's based off of the e82 platform, does that mean that this will be like a slightly larger Mini, I mean in concept that is.

BMW is not stupid enough to leave a market segment open when they could have sold thousands of cars a year in that bracket |

Oh Ian, I'm really didn't mean that to sound nasty at all, sorry if I did
I just see the merits of having a vehicle like this and see the reasoning...they won't let Audi or Merc (or in this case Toyota's RAV4 etc) milk a segment they could have had a piece of. |

do you know what you are talking about? just because the X6 is numerically higher than the X5 doesn't mean it's bigger. i've got an uncle with a new X5, and his wife owns a Q7. both are 08's. the Q7 is slightly larger than the X5, but not much more. they are easily comparable, along with the M-Class Mercedes.

i don't want to sound like i'm attacking you, but it's not really a matter of opinion.
comparing the two, look at it this way, the Q7 and X5 both seat 7 people. the X6 seats 4 (in every picture i've seen of the interior, it's 4 bucket seats, and there's a console in the back seat, eliminating the center seat). in the market advertising for the Q7, they advertise the following features: kneeling - "to make it easier to put your gear in the back", rear cargo storage, power liftgate, 3d row seating and my favorite BEVERAGE HOLDERS (claiming there are 10 holders in the car). compare that to the marketing of the X6 the "first ever sports activity coupe" - "With 25.6 cubic feet of trunk storage and a massive 59.7 cubic feet of seat-down storage, the X6 boasts incredible room. More than the Porsche Cayenne with the rear seats down" - they are comparing themselves to the Cayanne, the Q7's sportier, smaller, brother.

This car (my 335xi coupe) simply shreds every condition the road can present. It's awesome. I've been waiting for this car for a LONG time. So, based on the application of the XDrive to the 1 series frame, is a 135xi in our future? That would be an AWESOME little ride! |
