I loved my 2003 350z and I was so excited when they brought the Z back after cancelling the 300zx. I couldn’t afford a 300zx at the time since they got fairly expensive. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do here and frankly is long overdue. I could see myself driving another Z if they get all the numbers and the look right.

I cant wait until tomorrow for more details If they price a base car with the VR30DDTT under 40k with a 6MT they will have a hard time keeping them in the showroom considering the 2.0T Supra starts in the mid 40's. I hope Nissan works out the kinks in the VR30 that were present when the Q50/60 debuted

Nissan truly milked that platform for all it was worth to include the Infiniti G coupe. I actually liked the G35 a little better but it was a little pricier. And that was the time when Infiniti was expanding and dealers weren’t interested in discounting prices where Nissan would.

The interiors were terrible on the 03-05 cars and the 6MT trans have a ton of QC issues despite being revised 9 times, and these cars will probably need the suspension bushings overhauled (think a $1500 - $2000 job).

For all the complaints a lot of us enthusiasts have about the state of the car industry these days, it's honestly pretty cool that in a year or two you'll be able to choose between the new Nissan Z, the re-done 86/BRZ, and the Supra. Plus the Miata and the Porsche 718 are still out there as well.
That's a decent mix of driver oriented sports cars still on the market; all with recent releases and/or updates. Considering the love for SUVs, pick-ups, crossovers, electric, etc... by today's consumer, I'm pretty happy we'll have these choices. I will likely buy one of them. Tentative leader's right now are the new BRZ/86 and the Z, if they can actually deliver on some meaningful performance and style updates plus get the pricing in a good ball park. I would love to move to a 718 but that still may be out of my price bracket unfortunately. Bottom line, I'm looking forward to learning more about the new Z. |

I'm definitely excited for the unveil. Not too often an affordable sports car gets released these days. More often than not, it's crazy 6 figure electric cars or super cars which I've lost interest in a long time ago

I have a hard time believing this will be any better than the Supra as a sports car (former 370Z owner here, and can't believe it was once called a sports car), but what it can do is keep it close but undercut the Supra in price, and they need to take a page out of the MX5, keep the Z simple. Manual in the middle, mechanical LSD in the back, hydralic (maybe electric, not that BS steer by wire)steering that works, brakes that can handle a few hot laps, not a few emergency stops before it gives up completely. A fuel tank that will not starve the engine going around right handers. Give it a bit of retro style, maybe it can at least rub off of the success of the Mustang by going retro.

What level of confidence does the rumor mill place on such a model actually coming to market?
Assuming it does make it: - Is there expectation that we'll see a 500hp version of the VR30DETT? - Or, is this going to be a larger displacement VR, perhaps somewhere in between the current 30 and 38? - Oooor... are we into hybrid territory, perhaps something rising from the ashes of "Project Black S"? I'll have to do some Googling - this car hasn't been on my radar. For a while there, it seemed like the chances of a new Z were approaching 0%. I'm glad they are pulling things together, and I agree with some others above who suggest this could really leave the Supra's shortcomings embarrassingly exposed. |

Simple timeless styling, all Japanese, optional manual, and affordable is exactly what the Supra is missing in the eyes of critics and this is exactly that. |

i'll be tuning in tonight.
the car will have plenty of power, especially with aftermarket support so im not worried there. More so just want to see the styling, how good the interior is, and mainly if they can get the weight to 3000 pounds or less. Doubt it happens but maybe.

I doubt that its going to get more than 400HP considering that the Q50/60 RS has sensors built into the turbos that monitors RPM (which is being monitored by the factory ECU). This also means that the 300HP car will be the one to get for modding. The power figures of the Z33/Z34 have always been aligned with the V35/V36 Skyline that debuted
