2012 E84 Front Brake Size Issue
Hey Everyone,
I went to do brakes on my 2012 X1 (28i) today and have had quite an adventure. I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this. I ordered some performance rotors and pads for all four wheels and started to install the front first. The rotor went on nice, but the caliper bracket was too small. I took the rotor off and realized it was 330 mm where the one I removed was 312 mm. I double checked the part numbers and they were all correct. I called my local BMW who used the VIN to verify my car should have 330 mm front rotors, but the stock caliper bracket had no chance of fitting. I was told by BMW that if the car was manufactured in China it could have 312 mm rotors, but my VIN identifier is W (Germany). Long story short...VIN says 330, aftermarket suppliers say 330. Car has 312. I've had to order rotors for a different model to get what I need. Has anyone else ever seen this? |

Update:
The plot thickens. I finally got correct rotors by selecting a European market option which is not my car...now it appears that the front calipers are too wide to receive the outer pad ears... I've worked on BMWs for years and have never had anything like this. It's like the brakes are made from whatever spare parts they had lying around. I've searched all the forums and haven't heard of anything else like this... Help?? |

I know its been a while but I am doing my research now. My car is a 2012 E84 canadian market too with m sport seats but not m sport front bumper. VIN also starts with W. What rotors did you end up getting? Do you have the m sport seats?
