In theory in a straight line it shouldn’t but it could in turns. Then again cheap tires shouldn’t either

Ok, we are looking for easy solutions here. Hhow are the brake pads? Like I said, traction overeaction can be tamed down by getting the aggressive semi metallic pads off, and ceramic in Centric or Akebono. BMW is supposed to make the ultimate driving expperience, but here we are with a finicky car so you should fix offset if you can. Your front axle might be 58mm more narrow than rear. I had trouble with 24 mm too narrow that I fixed. |

Keep in mind that at highway speeds and while cruising downtown everything is fine. The car only stutters while acceleraring from a dead stop, typically between 10 and 30 km/h. The rest of the time all is fine

Does it matter if u are gently accelerating or accelerating hard? Since ther3 is no problem when stock wheels are back on. It’s got to be something about the tires or wheels or combo

My s28i could be said to stutter in first gear.
Many have had loss of power when starting off which is not traction control, just feels like running out of gas. A pause. Some times i just start in 2Nd gear, and pulls great. I wish i could program out first gear. |

I have this issue both starting and dropping to first at a stop, so annoying its the engines way of "handling" the torque conversion, aka shit sucks.

I have aftermarket wheels staggered 245-40/19 fr. and 275-35/19 r. which leaves the fronts slightly taller than rears, like yours. No issues such as you describe.

When you say stutter, is it like what others call throttle lag?
Every time I start off I find myself playing with throttle, but it's always jumpy forward or balk unless pedal to the metal with no one in front. |

Mine did that with 245/40R19 and 275/35R19. Strange noises and vibrations with stuttering acceleration. Doesn’t do it with my style 230 with 225/40R19 and 255/35R19 or squared style 454 on 225/45R18. I changed the 245/275 for 225/255 on my style 225 after 3 weeks. Driving is impeccable now.

First post here - funnily enough I have just purchased an F11 528i and am looking at 324M wheels for it as they are quite lightweight and good offsets for the 5 series. Funnily enough I was also looking at E9x M3 wheels at one point too but they aren't really the right offsets for the F11.
That's what bought me here - looking for good pics of them to I can photochop them onto pictures of my car. However I found this thread and thought I'd comment as I've seen the same things going on with the F8x M3/4 and various F01/F06/10/13 5, 6 and 7 series owners. With the F82 the rear tyres are quite a bit taller than the front, they have the same side wall ratio front and rear but with wider tyres at the rear. This gave them 799 rotations per mile at the front and only 783 at the rear. When people kept their fronts the same 255/35r19 and changed the stock rear from 275/35r19 to 295/30r19 with the same 799 rotations at the front they had massive problems just like you describe. It was fixable by completely turning traction control off as the actual cause for the issue was the car thinking the rear wheels were spinning under acceleration. On the E84 with staggered wheels the stock sizes are: 225/45r18 802 255/40r18 799 225/40r19 797 255/40r19 799 So I would have thought that any tyre height plus or minus a few rotations would be fine. Based on your sizes for a few different tyres I searched on they all seem to be about 5 more rotations at the rear: 245/40r18 809 275/35r18 814 I'd perhaps suggest going with a 285/35r18 which tend to be about 804 rotations as then the car will think the rear is going slightly slower than the front however I don't know what that will do to xdrive. I also wonder if the quite different offset front and rear is creating a weird issue that the steering detects, probably to do with scrub radius - videos here. I'd suggest perhaps going for a drive without traction control on at all (don't come back to me if you crash though haha!) and see how it goes. That should at least eliminate the chance of the scrub radius being a problem and focus on just the tyre size. Next I'd try and find some cheap 285/35r18 tyres and see how they go. Are the current tyres all brand new with plenty of tread? If the rears had less tread that'd make is worse but second hand 285/35r18 should be OK and it should be possible to find a few second hand ones for under $100.

245/35r20 777 275/30r20 784 If you change your rear to 285/30r20 I think you should have a better time as their rotation is 777 as well. Again, for trial and error I'd suggest looking out for a cheap set somewhere or if you can even find someone with a set mounted to BMW wheels they might let you borrow them for a bit. Conveniently 285/30r20 is stock for an F8x M3/4 with the comp pack and the offset even works too so finding a set with a friend may not be too hard

Undergoing the exact same problem. Slightly worried form my transfer case.
Always studders when pulling away from a stop and traction control does kick in under heavy accel Just spent a pretty penny on a new set of Michelin ps4’s on the factory recommended tire size on the door sticker. 225/40/19 front 255/35/19 rear. I followed instructions 😅. Any solutions from anyone. |

I performed myself, definitely doable with the right tools and if turning a wrench is within your comfort zone. With the N55 my biggest challenge was the midpipe being in the way. I did a small write up on my build thread.

Process was the same, same sizes bolts and sockets. The orientation of the drain/ fill bolt is slightly different as it’s located on the side. If you have a 35i the midpipe makes this very cumbersome to remove the support bolt. I could only remove it after unbolting the midpipe from the resonator and removing a couple bracket bolts and it gave me enough room to shimmy it out pretty easily! Aside from that, the process is very straight forward.
