Charge pipe failure...
This is always a topic of discussion as a preventive measure. Fortunately when my charge pipe failed I was on my way home and only ten minutes away. I was able to limp home. I also had purchased a used charge pipe as a just in case for my e90, but never used it so had a spare on hand. If you look at where the pipe failed it looked as if someone took a saw to it.

Yep. I replaced mine on my 2nd X1 before it could blow, my first one blew with Map 1 on a JB4. Florida heat/humidity is what I'm blaming LOL

My driving probably would have done it anyway. Drive it like you stole it. Heat and Humidity are key for plastics failing, IMO.
